all he's done so far is puerile humour (which i enjoy where it is), i just don't know how well he'd do with something real.

I'd be more concerned it'll have digressions into Broadway style tunes and soft shoe numbers, since that seems to be Seth's real passion.

I'm imagining a scenario like...

Tyson: In fact, the sun is so large, a million Earths could fit inside it.
Talking animal that has no business talking: Jesus Christ, that's more than the number of twinkies that can fit inside Kevin Smith.

CUT TO: Kevin Smith stands, fatly. He probably farts or something. Hold for ten seconds.

Could just be that Seth is using his stroke at the network to get some near and dear projects on the air and this one would not necessarily have his "stamp" on it.  He exec. produces it and Tyson basically has his stamp on the project.

I am looking forward to it.  Tyson is badass.

Well thank goodness they're cutting Community's fourth season short! I'd hate to think they wouldn't have time in their schedule to air all of these properly.

Non-snark response: Irritating pictures filled with whatever-the-NBC-equivalent-of-the=Dreamworks-smirk-is makes it hard to take them seriously, but I won't quite dismiss any of them until air time. When it comes to modern TV, you can never rely on a promo shot (or even the premise) to say how good or not it will be. If that were the case, I would've dismissed Community and Parks and Recs before they even aired.

HBO Developing Comedy Series Starring Catherine Keener And Written & Directed By Charlie Kaufman

Quote
Frequent feature collaborators Charlie Kaufman and Catherine Keener are teaming for a TV series project. In a competitive situation, a half-hour comedy starring Oscar nominee Keener and to be written and directed by Oscar winner Kaufman has landed at HBO, which has put it on fast-track development. The untitled comedy is described as an exploration of one day in a woman’s life and how the events leading up to it can affect, or not, the reality in which she lives. Kaufman is executive producing; Keener serves as producer.

Over the last decade, Keener had been frequently pursued to do TV series, something she had declined to do until now. For her first series starring vehicle, she opted to team with a writer-director whom she has worked with before and who knows her well. Keener starred in Kaufman’s feature directorial debut Synecdoche, New York. She appeared in two movies written by him – Synecdoche and Being John Malkovich – and also did a cameo in the Kaufman-penned Adaptation. Keener also is set to co-star in Kaufman’s next movie, Frank Or Francis, opposite Steve Carell and Jack Black. Both Keener and Kaufman earned Oscar nominations for Being John Malkovich.

HBO has been building a slate of comedy series with female leads, including recent entries Enlightened starring Laura Dern and Veep starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Awesome. Also, this is the first I've heard of the Frank Or Francis project with Carell and Black.

While one is actually implying it, both posters would be greatly improved with handheld objects replaced with guns.

I guess "chainsaw fucking a whore's cunt" doesn't pay the bills anymore.

I would like to believe that this is because no stage would have him.  Also, he's going to walk on set and find out he's going into the Wicker Man.
