Fun musical fact:
The video of the song is longer than the actual single to accommodate the final scene.

'Bout the Video:

Fun musical fact:
The cow? That was my last employer's director of marketing from 1995-8. She left to join the Wisconsin cheese ad campaign.

Knights of Cydonia
Muse

Black Holes and Revelations
2006
Dir- Joseph Kahn

'Bout The Band:
Muse is an English rock band from Teignmouth, Devon, formed in 1994. They are known for their energetic and extravagant live performances, and their fusion of many music genres, including space rock, post grunge, progressive rock, alternative rock, pop music, heavy metal, classical music and electronica.

'Bout the Video:
A post apocalyptic Western, with unicorns. And robots. And martial arts.

Fun musical fact:
Muse? You uploaded this. Couldn't you have uploaded a better copy?

And the during the sex scene, you can see the film crew in the mirror to the left. Unlike certain films with Getty image watermarks, this was intentionally done.

Hey, Isn't That...?
The evil sheriff is played by Richard Brake, who was responsible for shooting the Waynes in Batman Begins. He was also in Black Dahlia and Hannibal, but hey, playing Joe Chill has to be the pinnacle of anyone's career.

I'm surprised that only one other person voted for Knights of Cydonia.  In my opinion, it makes up for any Twilight associations.

All these selections have a surprisingly low number of points.  I guess we all have a very diverse range of tastes.

The Kill (Bury Me)
30 Seconds to Mars

A Beautiful Lie
2006
Dir- "Bartholomew Cubbins"

'Bout The Band:
30 Seconds to Mars is an American rock band from Los Angeles, formed in 1998. Singer Jared Leto and his brother Shannon form the core of the band.

'Bout the Video:
The band rents out a hotel for three days. Things end badly.

Fun musical fact:
Room 6277 was used as 6277 spells "Mars" on a telephone keypad.

Oh and any similarities between this video and a certain horror novel are completely coincidental.

Hey, Isn't That...?
Yeah, the lead singer was in "My So Called Life."

There were 425 submissions, with about 300-350 different songs nominated, so the points got spread all over the place.

Hurt
Johnny Cash

American IV: The Man Comes Around
2003
Dir- Mark Romanek

'Bout The Artist:
John R. "Johnny" Cash (born J. R. Cash; February 26, 1932 – September 12, 2003) was an American singer-songwriter, actor, and author, who has been called one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. Although he is primarily remembered as a country music artist, his songs and sound spanned many other genres including rockabilly and rock and roll—especially early in his career—as well as blues, folk, and gospel. This crossover appeal led to Cash being inducted in both the Country Music Hall of Fame and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

'Bout the Video:
Cash reminisces about his life while surrounded by personal mementos. That description doesn't do the video justice though.

Fun musical fact:
The home where the video was shot was also Cash's home for 30 years before being turned into the Cash museum.  It had been closed and badly maintained for years prior to its use in this video. The building was destroyed in a fire in 2007.

June Carter Cash died two months after the release of this video. Johnny Cash died five months after the death of his wife.

Up Next:
And now, the comedian who has to follow up the announcement that a puppy's been run over in the parking lot.

Hungry Like the Wolf
Duran Duran

Rio
1982
Dir- Russell Mulcahy

'Bout The Band:
Duran Duran is an English New Wave band, formed in Birmingham in 1978. They were one of the most successful bands of the 1980s and a leading band in the MTV-driven "Second British Invasion" of the United States. Since the 1980s, they have placed 14 singles in the Top 10 of the UK Singles Chart and 21 in the Billboard Hot 100 and have, according to the Sunday Mercury, sold more than 100 million records.

'Bout the Video:
Simon Le Bon heads into the jungle to pursue a beautiful, tiger-like woman. And the rest of the band looks for Le Bon.

Fun musical fact:
During the shoot, Andy Taylor accidentally drank from a lagoon and was hospitalized after contracting a serious stomach virus. Dude. Not smart.

Hey, Isn't That...?:"
Russell Mulcahy? Yes, he directed several Duran Duran videos, as well as the recently riffed Highlander.

Up Next:
I don't think anyone would be the least bit surprised if this video is actually the case.

All Is Full of Love
Björk

Homogenic
1999
Dir- Chris Cunningham

'Bout The Band:
Björk Guðmundsdóttir (born 21 November 1965), known as Björk (pronounced /ˈbjɜrk/ BYURK in English), is an Icelandic Polar Music Prize-winning singer-songwriter, occasional actress, music composer and music producer, whose influential solo work includes seven solo albums and two original film soundtracks.
Her eclectic musical style has achieved popular acknowledgement and popularity within many musical genres, such as[1] rock, jazz, electronic dance music, classical and folk. Her voice has been acclaimed for its distinctive qualities.

'Bout the Video:
The video starts with a robotic Björk lying on a white platform in the centre of a sterile room being assembled or repaired by mechanical arms in what appears to be a clinic for robots. Even before finishing the assembly, the first Björk robot meets another Björk robot, who joins in the song with her. They start to kiss passionately as machines work on assembling electronics in their backs.

Fun musical fact:
This may be the only video to feature lesbian robots. Well, okay. Except for Tatu's stuff. And I'm still not sure about Katy Perry's non-robotness.

Up Next:

Yeah, Youtube doesn't have this one for reasons listed below. Google video does though at:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=765019771919333912#

The Superbowl Shuffle
The 1985 Chicago Bears

1985

'Bout The Band:
The 1985 Chicago Bears were the NFC Champions of that season. They went 18-1 that season and prior to the Superbowl, they produced a rap song. They later beat the Patriots in Super Bowl XX, in the last Superbowl (so far) to feature two teams that had never preiously been in a Super Bowl.

'Bout the Video:
The various members of the Bears appears to dance, poorly, and rap about their accomplishments. However, they are not there to cause any trouble. They are just there to perform the Super Bowl Shuffle.

Fun musical fact:
The copyright owner of this song is rather zealous about removing unauthorized copies of the song from sites such as Youtube. Yay her.

Hey, Isn't That...?
Future GI Joe team member William "The Refrigerator" Perry? Yep.

Up Next:
Hey, what's more upsetting than watching da Bears? This next song!
