Is The Troll Hoggle From Labyrinth?
« on: February 12, 2007, 11:21:06 PM »
...

Alright, so i finally got my copy of Troll 2 in the mail today. And although i haven't watched it yet, the back cover jumped out at me. The picture of the troll looks exactly like Hoggle from the film Labyrinth! Has anyone actually watched both the first Troll film and Labyrinth in order to confirm my suspicion?!

Hm... No wonder the "Trolls" in Troll 2 looked familiar.  However, unless Hoggle developed a severe palsy between films, I'm betting it's just a rip off.  There's almost no facial movement to the Troll 2 guys.

Troll 2's Troll's ears look more pointed, and his brows seem a bit more lower.. but an uncanny resemblance nonetheless!

I think the troll that resembles Hoggle the most is featured in the first film, not the sequel. But, after watching that horrible mess... i have to admit that i think it is a different costume afterall. It was pretty damn close though. I figured that the filmmakers probably found the old costume on the studio lot or something, and just decided to use it.

By the way, if you haven't seen the first film yet... don't. It's basically a kids' movie that looks like it was made for TV. Although it does star Sonny Bono and Julia Louis-Dreyfus in her first role as a frolicking wood nymph or something... so there's that~

Actually, Troll was made by Empire pictures, and Labyrinth was made by Jim Henson Corp. So, the Hoggle probably cost about a million dollars more than the Troll guy.
