You know, I watched that a couple of times, trying to find some form of sense in it, but I couldn't find any.

Yeah, that made no sense.

You know, it sort of reminded me of something you'd see from a Monty Python ep.

You know, I watched that a couple of times, trying to find some form of sense in it, but I couldn't find any.

Time: The dawn of man.  A tribe of man-apes, verging on extinction, awakens to find an ovoid in their midst, its origin a complete mystery.  Moonwatcher, perhaps one of the more intelligent of the man-apes, dares to touch it; at that point the ovoid emits a high-pitched screech, and due to budget constraints the entire middle of the film is scrapped and Moonwatcher takes off to Jupiter and beyond the infinite (rather than go to the expense of presenting a large interplanetary spacecraft and filming a series of slit-scan images, the launch is instead achieved by igniting Moonwatcher's genitalia).

A series of cosmic ovoids then rain down on the remaining, dumber man-apes.  One of the man-apes (guest star Jack Black) hides so well that he cannot be seen; however, we happen to know that he is behind that one particular ovoid, which explodes.

The cameraman is briefly distracted when he sees musical guest star John McEuen of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band having some trouble with a flaming shot of 151 Rum, but he quickly recovers and returns to Jack Black.

The exploding ovoid has burned off Jack's chest hair, and the pain sends Jack sliding into his cave.  Some stalactite business ensues, as a metaphor of something.

The musical finale shows that time has not been a friend of the Spice Girls.

Clear now?

The director's cut has an extended finale, in which Reese Witherspoon is reunited with her husband. Tiny Tim does NOT die; Scrooge gives him a sled named Rosebud.  Dorothy awakens in Kansas, in bed with Bob Newhart and Suzanne Pleshette.  T'wasn't the planes that got him; t'was a heart attack that killed Don Corleone. Rose tosses the Heart of the Ocean. Atlanta burns. Old Yeller dies.  And all the characters, depressed and having lost any will to go on, walk sullenly into the sea after a rousing game of Chess with Death during which they all sing "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling."  Fin.

Apparently the movie used in the Troll 2 clip and the Youtube clip is Grunt! (1983).
