The "Ghibli is closing" stuff came from a Tumblr post that misinterpreted what was being stated in the images from that discussion. Even Japan got word of it.

Thing is though, the studio's had rough times. Miyazaki retiring and the fact that their new stuff doesn't do as good for them box office wise meant it needed to be put on hold. They're now like they were back in the old days, which could be a good thing.

In other news, Serial Experiments Lain is good, Fairy Tail is fun, and I've been watching VOTOMS which is good old mecha action. Also, the mechs have roller skates.

Hayao Miyazaki May Return, Says Studio Ghibli’s Toshio Suzuki
Quote from: Mark Schilling
TOKYO – Hayao Miyazaki, the iconic Japanese anime creator “may make something again,” said Toshio Suzuki, the veteran Studio Ghibli producer whose remarks on a Sunday TBS documentary stirred up speculation about the studio’s demise.

“This is my guess, but I’m thinking it will be something short.” He explained that Miyazaki had talked to him about making a short film for the Ghibli Musuem in Mitaka, Tokyo.

Suzuki was appearing Thursday on the NHK morning show “Asa Ichi” to clarify his earlier statements about the 30 year old company.

“We’re changing the way we make (animation),” Suzuki said, without getting in specifics. “We wanted to make a dream company. We thought we would make what suited us and not make what didn’t suit us. We were able to realize (that dream) to some extent and we’re very happy about that. But now we’re at a point where we’ve got to think about what we’ll do next.”

In the TBS documentary Suzuki talked about Ghibli taking a hiatus from production to assess its future direction following the September 2013 retirement of Miyazaki, long the studio’s biggest hitmaker. His remarks, mistranslated by a blogger, started a storm of Internet chatter about the imminent end of Japan’s most successful feature animation.

If you bought it in the last year or two, it's probably the remastered version.  My version is, um, maybe 8 years old?

Anyway, enjoy!

I've been watching Fullmetal Alchemist. Really enjoying that show. I'm completely hooked on the song from the first season.

Which one? The first series or Brotherhood? Both are good, but Brotherhood followed the story from the manga more closely, from what I understand. The easiest way to tell is that the original is in 4:3 and Brotherhood is widescreen.

Sorry I took so long to reply, the first series. I've got another 7-8 more episodes and the series is finished. Pretty remarkable. Sigh.

AFT!   :highfive:

Cowboy Bebop: The Complete Series Blu-ray
Amazon Exclusive / Premium Edition / Blu-ray
Release:   Dec 16, 2014
Pre-order price is currently $69.99

Given Amazon's usual methods of doing things, the very earliest pre-order price can often be even cheaper than the first week sale price.  [So I already ordered it.]

If you aren't sure, then keep in mind: you can cancel it at any time prior to shipping if you decide you don't want it.

You can always start on Brotherhood after that. It starts out very much like the first series. It even has the same voice actors. Then when it gets more into the homunculi, it starts deviating from the first story. It's a little jarring at first how different it is, but I prefer the ending of Brotherhood to the original.

I just started watching Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, since I just finished the original series. That was pretty damn mind-blowing what happened at the very end. It was amazing. Plus, I have really fallen in love with the original series theme song Melissa by Porno Graffiti and Tobira No Mukuo by Yellow Generation, oh, and Ready Steady go is good too.
