Re-authoring Note
« on: November 16, 2010, 04:48:37 PM »
I didn't have any trouble getting the video and audio off the dvd but there seemed to be several different cuts of the movie (which I only saw in DVD decrypter)

The one I found that synced up to the movie properly was in VTS_04 -> PGC 03 (the time being 1:43:08)

The one DVD decrypter sent me to initially was an hour and 52 minutes long, it synced up with the RiffTrax for the first 10 minutes or so, then
the sync lines were completely off

Good call.  My normal methods were not working.

Yeah there were a lot of dummy VTS files in this one. I used DVD Shrink to make a stand alone ISO. If you go that route you want "TITLE 11" for the right one.

Hmm.. Noted..
My copy will arrive today so I'll be sure to use AnyDVD to back up the files to my hard drive then use DVD Shrink to compress them to a single layer and burn with Nero then capture the burned movie through my Pinnacle Studio 9 program and see how the RiffTrax lines up :o

I couldn't get AnyDVD to work with the disc (and it was the current version).    Thankfully I was able to pull out the movie via DVD Decrypter

RVR , you won't even have to shrink it. Without all the extra audio tracks it comes to 4 gb. No reencoding needed.

I do try to save the Spanish audio/subtitles (if available) for the wife's family in Mexico when I'm done capturing the burned copy in preps for the RiffTrax reauthoring 8)

Yep! No Problemo with AnyDVD..
Title 11 was backed up flawlessly and DVD Shrink 3.2 compressed it (with Spanish audio/subtitles) so I'm good to go.. 8)

I'll be watching this one tonight ;D

Never mind.  I see you must be using DVD Decrypter, which does show 4-3 having a run length.  The audio demultiplexed fine, but it split the movie into four 1 GB chunks.  Giving it another try....

If you are using DVD Decrypter you have to tell DVD Decrypter to NOT split the files: SETTINGS--> IFO MODE --> then there is a drop down next to FILE SPLITTING and it needs to be set to NONE.

I don't think I did, but I could be wrong.  I'll take another look when I get home.  I got frustrated and downloaded a torrent, but hopefully I don't have to use that.

also check to see if you selected demux for both the video and the audio. If you do stream for the video you will get the 1gb chunks because that is how the VOBs are on the original DVDs.
