It is me or is one of the zombies in the clips they promote the contest with look a lot like Tommy Wiseau? He's wearing a dark suit jacket with a red shirt. Long hair. I swear it looks like him...

I know which zombie you're talking about. Though I don't know that that particular zombie looks like Wiseau so much as Wiseau generally just looks like a zombie. Ergo, any zombie with longish black hair, weird lumpy skin and a blank stare will bear an uncanny ressemblance.  ;D

Well, I'm impressed. Loved the first ep, loved the second ep. Excited for the third. Maybe I'm biased, but I'm enjoying the hell out of this series so far. Pak's never read the comic but seems to be enjoying the show. I'm having fun relating the differences between the events of the book vs the show to him.

Glad they've gotten the "isolated farm house with gas pump" and "shopping mall" bits out of their systems....   ;)

Actually, if they're following the book somewhat accurately,
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

So, this will be an original new series that covers the same old ground?   ;)

Well...so far I think the only thing new I've seen or heard is a character shouting the N word....which they managed to avoid the entire first film.

But, we'll see.

The zombies in the show seem faster and more coordinated than in the book.

I have never actually seen a scene in a movie where walking slowly with rain starting to fall be tension filled...... well done guys, well done.   That was neat.

And it ALREADY got renewed for season two?    I am used to my shows being CANCELLED this early, never renewed.   :highfive:

The next episode looks pretty badass as well.

And I have not read the comics.

Man, that second episode was good.

High points:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Glen definitely looks to be the breakout character.  He's not a badass or a wildcard, he's just a really likable guy who's trying to make it.

Nice that this episode offered very little from the comic.  Keeps both fans and new viewers what's going to happen next.

The zombies in the show seem faster and more coordinated than in the book.

I noticed this too. I suspect the change was made to make the zombies seem more threatening for the TV audience in the same way as giving the zombies the ability to break into a full run in the Dawn of the Dead remake. It also expands the theory started in the book of having different classes of zombies. You've got the low functioning undead (Lurkers) that just lay around motionless until prey comes along and move up into the Roamers/Biters which are mobile. The show seems to be expanding that higher functioning class into individuals that can actually scale fences and turn doorknobs.

On another board, the theory of how fresh a zombified individual is also came up as a theory, with the freshly dead being quicker, smarter and more agile than "older" zombies which gradually become slower and dumber until they eventually become Lurkers.

Every time I see that guy, I always make the joke, "Man! Tom Waits has really let himself go."

True, but I like one of the dimensions you don't get from the book: The unsettling sound of all that moaning going on around you.

So far, the Director Frank Darabont has not disappointed.
