Er, what's up with the logo?

(Edited to remove how much time I waste here.)

It's what is showing at http://forum.rifftrax.com/Themes/pdx-115/images/RT-logo.gif in Firefox. IE shows the regular image.

Because the forum is not a priority for the majority of the visitors to our site.  They are at the site to buy an MP3 or video.

This becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy though, right?

Can you track the numbers of new members over the next couple of months and see if there's a sudden drop-off?

Thanks!

Is there a way to filter out non-official riffs when doing searches?

Don't you get the category list on the left sidebar?
I work REALLY hard on the site. (Not the forum so much.) I'd love it if you bought me a beer via PayPal!

We can track the numbers, but regardless of whether there is a drop-off, the number of customers who were also forum members from even before the redesign went live is something like 2% (maybe less now). In other words, forum visibility is a tiny, tiny drop in the bucket compared to other social networks such as Facebook and Twitter.

It's true to an extent that it could be self-fulfilling, but I think the fact is that most people prefer to stay on their own social networks they can control as opposed to a forum. Forums are becoming something of a fringe and a relic with regard to how people interact with others. I'm not saying that they are useless or no longer valuable (they are!) but in the grand scheme of things they are being constantly supplanted by new stuff, and it shows up - to us - as a decline in numbers. Even if we were to put the Forum as the very first link in the top navigation, you would not see a vast increase in membership here, for the reasons I've cited.

Yes, but that doesn't let you exclude by official/non official; it lets you include certain types of subcategories (shorts vs. movies) but...I can't screen out any iriffs, which is what I want when searching.

Yeah that would mean making the categories less specific which wouldn't work. For now I think you're stuck with selecting "Feature length" or "Shorts" etc. specifically. Although I think it should be fairly obvious that if you're looking for Batman, you're probably better off searching the Feature-length catalog.

Assuming we are talking on the main http://www.rifftrax.com site - correct?

The "Community" and other sections are right at the bottom.

So.

No.

Not on Firefox I don't.

Torgo - I sincerely appreciate the thoughtful reply!

I realize this is a VERY old thread... but the last few weeks, on those occasions I stop in at the main RiffTrax site I've noticed a dramatic change from what it has been.  So figured I'd dig up this old 'Site Redesign' thread to post the changes I've seen.  [Wasn't functional enough to comment before now (probably still shouldn't be taxing my brain this much yet).]

This is what I see if I try to look at the main catalog:

and, to show 'between item' space:

Is that really how it is supposed to look?  Because it doesn't 'read' right.  The "Add to Cart" buttons look like 'topic dividers', yet they come in the middle of a description.  [Even so, being so large, they don't seem to 'go' with a particular item, and have no specific information on them as to which item any particular 'Add to Cart' button goes to, so would likely be confusing to the average person/new visitor.]  There are no longer any scoring stars present in the main catalog (which, if I were new here, would be of interest to me, and would not want to have to open up each and every one of the - what, 200? - shorts to see which were thought to be the best, much less the nearly 150 feature films).  The end of the description of one item actually is closer to the picture of the next item than any text related to that second item is (with no divider between them).

It seems like a rather large step backwards in ease of use for new converts to the RiffTrax lifestyle.

I just thought I'd give some feedback, in case that were of interest.  [Hence my looking for a thread called "Site Redesign" to post this in, even if the thread initially referred to a much older site redesign.]

What browser are you using? You might want to to try cleaning your cache. In Chrome, Firefox, IE they all look like this to me:

Also we are talking about the new site design in the Feedback area here:

Thank you.  This was enough to get me to look around for what might be the issue here.  It wasn't the cache (I have Firefox set to clear that out whenever it closes), it turns out it was the link I had saved from the last site redesign.  The link was http://www.rifftrax.com/rifftrax which was the link that the main page sent one to for the Rifftrax catalog before.  That still leads to the pages as I posted the pics.  But a new link I made (made by going to plain-ol' www.rifftrax.com and clicking "Buy RiffTrax") works like yours.  So I changed my saved link.

Oh, and the reason I posted in this thread was because I remembered that 'Announcements' was where the last mention of a new site design was and where I expected the announcement of a new one to be posted.  Since this was the only 'redesign' thread in that section, that's where I posted this.  I could have spent a LONG time looking for such a thread elsewhere (and why would I continue to look elsewhere if it seemed I found what I was looking for?)  Thank you for responding here, MrTorso.
