Sing your praises (or lack thereof) for HSM:Rifftrax edition
« on: October 12, 2010, 05:16:45 PM »
I'm surprised no one has started one of these, so I'll go ahead and attempt it.

I think I'll go with 9, but very close to 10. I liked both of the last 2 Riffrax very much, and I hope they continue with these more oddball choices. The more mainstream movies are often good, but I find myself tiring of them faster.

I gave it a solid 8. I have already watched it 3 times. Hopefully they will go and complete the trilogy!

If this one continues to be a good seller, I'm sure they'll consider it.

I give it a 9. Watched it twice now, and thoroughly enjoyed it both times.
It had me cracking up left and right.

This movie is worse that Twilight!!

The riff is hilarious though. Solid 9.

I've watched it a few times and enjoyed it - the movie lends itself nicely to a riffing. A rockin' 8

This was excellent. Absolutely EXCELLENT! Not one dull moment in the riffing.

All I have is one question. How was this rifftrax physically possible from without acquiring PTSD?

They already have PMSD. Post Manos Stress Disorder (Also PMSD, Post Mitchell Stress Disorder). After that, a bunch of teenyboppers singing about how great it is to be bland isn't going to phase them.

This was a fantastic RT, so I gave it a solid 10. It's already become one of my top 5 favorites. But this may have something to do with my personal hatred of the original material and my desire to see it kicked in the pants this way.

I hope not.  I'm getting tired of series riffs.  The jokes just get recycled, and I feel like their talent would be better put to use riffing the thousands of unique movies out there.

My God, I loved this thing. I was hitting the floor, spit taking, dying. Bill, Mike, Kevin, you're going to kill me. The "musical" numbers in particular were brilliant work. So good to hear the Dynamic Trio singing again.

Seriously, if the Twilight episodes are as good as this I'm going to be in heaven.

Interesting. Because the badness of the movie is what I also loved. Would funny on its own but only for a while. Mike and the guys transformed it into comedy gold.

I didn't think the source movie was that bad.... that's not to say it's good... but just sooo vanilla and bland more than outright awful. The songs are so lightweight that they make your average bubblegum pop star sound like Bob Dylan. Nothing offensive or exciting or interesting to be found in this TV movie... everything about it getting so sanitized for the tween market... within 30 minutes I was just sorta zoning out with glossy-eyed indifference. Which is maybe why the riff didn't quite work for me as well as I hoped it would. The guys bring consistent grins and chuckles... and the recurring jabs at the two leads never seemed to wear thin. Still, this one fell just short of their better efforts... pleasantly humorous and easily worth the 90 minutes, but not often laugh out loud funny. My intention was to give it a seven, but it appears as if I clicked eight by mistake.
