Sounds...extremely loud.   ;D

Suicide Silence? They're the Patridge Family cover bands I've heard a lot about, right?  And I saw Decrepit Birth a few weeks back - surprisingly, they're big followers of the Carpenters.

I can only speak for two of the bands.

Arsis - AWESOME!!! They play very melodic death/black style metal. Fast paced, with shredding guitars, lots of blast beat drums, and superb songwriting. Their first major release A Celebration of Guilt is good from beginning to end. Their sound is slightly rough, which adds to the fun. Their songs are very easy to get into. Almost hummable.

Necrophagist - equally awesome. These guys play technical death metal. Very tight, polished and fast. The guitarist/vocalist/songwriter has some mean skills.

Kodiak - you know your stuff. Arsis just released their new album, (I think it's out already... hmm) called United In Regret, and it's just as good as the first.

That's a pretty solid billing. Necrophagist and Severed Savior are THE reason to attend both days. Everything else is just the icing on the cake.
my entry made my girlfriend laugh a few times, the best I can hope for really.

I'd say Whalberg definately qualifies as really good.

And in addition to that, the following bands will be playing in LA around the summer:

Immortal
Emperor (AGAIN!)
Atheist (probably their only west coast date)
Cynic

Am I missing anyone else? Probably, but you know what? That's still one HELL of a summer and a damn fine year for metal.

Man, Immortal would be cool to see. Have to see if we can manage traffic between SD and LA.

If any other RoundTable members are planning on making the trip(s) to see these shows, let me know and we'll grab a cold one.

Sweet! I remember reading that they had a new one out soon. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I'm gonna purchase it right now!

Thankfully San Francisco has enough good shows that i rarely have to travel outside the city to catch a decent concert anymore. Of course, those all-day Metalfest shows can be a endurance test sometimes. Even if you know like, half the bands playing... the entire day can blur together into some incoherent wall of sound.

Then again, i always dig hearing a new band. It's the reason i usually show up to shows early. Ya' never know who you might catch "before they're big"...

Let me just duck behind a trash can here before i admit... that i picked up tickets to see Cradle Of Filth later this month. Man, people really hate those guys. But i've seen 'em a coupla' times and they always have a pretty cool live show. Of course they're playing with 3 Inches Of Blood and The 69 Eyes (who look like they really suck). So maybe driving to Santa Ana would've been the better choice afterall~

CoFs' music is good but Danny Filth sucks as a vocalist, IMO. 3 Inches is good in very small doses, and I've never heard of the third one, but they don't sound that good. Trust me when I say this CA fest is going to be awesome - Testament is one of the creators of the Bay Area Thrash sound, along with Metallica and Exodus. Great shit.

CYNIC? As in Paul Masdival's Cynic? Originally from Miami?

Cradle of Filth suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. I've liked some terrible bands over the years, but never that one!

I can't really judge all their music, but I did buy Median back when it was released and was extremely pissed that I wasted my money. It was soooooo bad. What the heck was with Dani's choppy, staccato vocals?? What the heck were you smoking when you though that sounded cool???????

LAME!

Wow! I haven't seen or heard from them in years. I am from Miami and I went to the same high school with Masdival.

Like i said... some people just absolutely hate those guys. I'm not gonna' argue on their behalf or anything. It's just one of those bands that drives a spike between people, and i happen to like more of their stuff than i don't. Sorry~

I also like Satyricon, Marduk, Dimmu Borgir, Children Of Bodom, and Necrophagia. Which are some of the other bands that people give me shit for... I'm just not metal enough i guess~  Maybe i tend to stick to the NSYNC bands of the genre~  ;)

Actually, i listen to quite a bit of shit. But it's usually those bands that get me in trouble with the metal nuts~ Cradle Of Filth though, is always in the number one spot!
