I learned it takes no musical talent to be in a musical.  Seriously, I can see them casting Zac for the girls, but couldn't they at least get the other people to able to carry a tune in a bucket?

Well I'm pretty tone deaf, so unless singing is ear bleedingly bad, I can't tell.  So they all seemed to be doing okay to me.
Yeah, they certainly weren't really good, but they could sing a little. It's just that some of the songs in particular were just so horribly written they had no chance.

I dunno, my dog committed suicide upon hearing this movie playing in the background.

Or the Osmonds in the early 70's.

I finally got through most of it and learned that Albuquerque is the best damn place ever to go to high school because...
  • Acne is not allowed
  • Everyone is given vouchers for expensive hair cuts that perfectly suit their individual features.  They also must have visiting personal shoppers for all the students to help with clothing choices...not one fashion faux pas in the place (unlike a real high school)
  • Everything in school - even extra curricular activities - are completely funded. Not just funded - every class and activity has the best of everything!  No one has to hold bake sales or sell "Spirit dolls" to buy uniforms or pay for props and costumes...or share textbooks or make teachers pay out of their own pocket for supplies...
  • They have the power to make sure that parents can always get time off from work in the middle of the day to watch whatever you're doing in school....even if it's just the freaking try outs for the school talent show!

Everything fits him and it matches.

(remember, I'm talking as compared to normal high schoolers)

I learned that a team with no one over 6 feet tall can win a state's boys basketball championship. With their best player being a white guy no less.

It's like an entire team comprised of Bobby Hurleys

I learned that in the 21st century, as ubiquitous as cameras are, there are no pictures of the star basketball player actually playing basketball.

I learned that I wish I had gone to this high school. I went to a preppy high school that required all the boys wear ties.

I learned that for the second Rifftrax in a row, I was more interested in looking at the teenaged girls than anything else going on in the movie. I'm 35, and I have to say, even I find that a little creepy.

I'm embarrassed to say I also learned that I like pretty much all musicals, even bad ones. I'll hum along with virtually anything (I actually can sing pretty well but I can't remember lyrics worth a damn). I own recordings of Cats, Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserable, and a whole slew of Gilbert and Sullivan stuff. Funny thing is, most of the rest of my music collection is metal.

Oh yeah, I also learned that if you're not actually on camera, you're effectively invisible as far as all other characters are concerned. And I'm not just talking about the scene where Troy is sneaking to the auditorium.

During the scene where Gabriella hides in the bathroom from Sharpay, she's not in view of the camera, but from Sharpay's vantage point inside the bathroom she should be in plain sight. I mean c'mon, even by made-for-TV (for children) standards that seems pretty lax.

I learned that as long as you're singing and dancing in a musical, street shoes CAN be worn on the gym floor.

Not quite.  Gabriella is actually Behind the Black

Good call there :)  I'm not really up with my TVTropes, but I love how under the Film examples there are two MST3K'ed movies and six Riffttrax'ed movies (seven if you count Casino Royale). Also, this reminds me of Agent for HARM, only in reverse, where the main character walks directly to his flat tire, that we as the audience can see, but he cannot.

Why would you not count Casino Royale?

It's an editable wiki.  You should do a write-up of the HSM scene in there.  I've been meaning to do one for this one scene in Terminator Salvation where Jon is hacking to open the gate to Skynet's base, directly in front of a terminator.  He managed to get through the gate just as the terminator walks on screen.  But since the terminator wasn't on screen before, he didn't exist.
