What did you learn in High School?

I learned that the words "Creme Brulee" are not funny, no matter how many times they are repeated.

    • Yep, I have a deviantART gallery. But it's pretty cheerful drawings-- no angsty poems or black-and-white photos of wooden chairs.

I learned they're still trying to force those same stupid cliched sentiments down the throats of TODAY'S youth as they did in my day, but with about 90,000% more crappy, non-threatening, family-safe pop songs.
I used to have an image here, but Photobucket got cheap about remote linking. I guess I'll have to think of something witty instead. Which I will. Later. It caught me by surprise, in all honesty. It's hard to be clever on command, I mean, YOU try it. Be funny: NOW! See, tough. So, gimme a bit, 'kay?

Huh, neat. Too much whiskey in his coffee that day, I guess.

Fired. Bring back Misembaudio.
I survived the San Diego Comic Con 2010 Hall H stabbing.

I learned that there are no classes actually taught in high school. Just 5 minute segments between bells.

I learned that one of the extras in the final dance number is badly out of step.

Seriously, I've seen her mess up a couple of times now.

I learned that there are surprisingly few children of Latin American descent attending High School in the largest city in New Mexico.

I learned that in a high school this large, there is only one fat girl. Also, all the students seem to be the same age.

I learned that a championship high school basketball team can have mostly kids under 5'6". Seriously, the black kid who bakes is the only one on the whole team who looks like he could be on a basketball team.

I learned that a female teacher can just wander into the boys locker room and not get in trouble. I also learned that the basketball coach's office is in said boys locker room.

Fortunately I learned that my testicals will not in fact fall off for having watched this movie. My hatred of everything I saw kept them intact.

The only girl who I thought was really hot was the composer girl. I have learned from the FBI that "they will be keeping an eye on me".

She was 20 when this film was made.

That makes it slightly less creepy but the FBI can't touch you.

I learned:

- That this stuff goes down easier than Twilight, mostly because there's nary a second it takes itself seriously. It's dumber than a bag a of hammers, but I'll take Zac and Vanessa's romance (I don't even remember their stage names) over Bella and Edward.

- All a director needs to do to direct a Disney TV-Movie is yell "Play your part as broadly as humanly possible" and let the details fall where they wish.

- I learned this from my teacher friends, but I found out no one over about 12 really watches this stuff without gagging.

- Brother/Sister groups always teeter on the verge of creepiness, yet most of them don't even bother to see if the lyrics and dance give off an unintended subtext.

- The shy, non-flashy, unpopular, "true artist" of the group doesn't get her inspiration from Tori Amos, Kate Bush, Janis Joplin, or even Imogen Heap. She gets it from her parents' stash of "Up with People" albums.

- Intonation isn't necessary when you're cute and a raising star.

- All of the mediocre singers in here are the reason people think they are try out for American Idol and make it past the first round.

- My hopes for the movie to end in a Carrie-esque way were probably naive.
