In an alternate universe...
« on: September 18, 2010, 12:18:25 PM »
As scientist have theorized, and as Star Trek has proven over and over again (at least once per season), alternate universes exist in which anything that can happen actually has happened.  In some universe, England won the Revolutionary War and all Americans drink warm beer and have universal healthcare.  In another universe, salt water taffy was never invented.  In yet another universe, Rush Limbaugh was a star quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings and now has his own show on ESPN 2.  "Three's Company" was canned in the first season and replaced with a sitcom about crime fighting ninja cats.

So, what events have happened or are happening right now in the universe next door?

Kurt Cobain never killed himself, he married his high school sweetheart and lives happily as a dentist.

Mark David Chapman shot Ono instead of John Lennon. In his 6 months of mourning he wrote some of the best music of his career. He is still alive and performing music to this day. Yoko Ono is known merely as a footnote in Beetles history, and noone cares about her "music".

He found solace by reuniting with May

Not sure if his music improved though.

EDIT: Just to say ""Yow". Personally, I'd have stayed "lost" were I him.

I joined the military after graduating high school... one year before 9/11.  Got shipped to Iraq and died in combat at 23.

Oh I'm sorry, is this happy universes?  Well then, uh, in an alternate universe, everyone dresses up as cowboys.

In this universe, my would-have-been uncle died during the Vietnam war - he was drafted and sent to a base in Germany where he worked as an electrician.  One day, the person responsible for shutting off the main power to the electrical lines was on a hangover and either didnt do it or didnt do it right, so my uncle died from electrocution.

In an alternate universe he went to Vietnam and was killed by friendly fire.

In another, he was a draft dodger, went to Canada, and died of lukemia five years later.

They cant all be happy...

In an alternate universe, Joe Mauer elected to play football at Florida State instead of being drafted by the Twins.  He is now the starting quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, and is coming off a dramatic come-from-behind victory in Super Bowl XLIV.
Correction: the coat hanger should be upside down.

In an alternative universe I'm living in the delightful colony of Cadillacshire, our county rugby team looks to be shaping up nicely for the coming season.

I seriously have trouble understanding anything mentioned in that post.  It's like a series of random words void of significance.  For empathetic reasons (and for kicks and giggles), this is what that sounds like to me using all my powers of deduction:

"In an alternate universe, Arthur Mendelbaum chose to play football in Hawaii instead of the Flying Dragons picking him to play for them. He is now doing something for the Iowa Songbirds, and is really good at Super Bowls."

In an alternate universe, football was never invented. It is a very happy universe.
Can I live there?  Pleeeeeease?   ;)
