Sci-FI Drive In
« on: January 31, 2007, 10:43:15 AM »
I got an e-mail from Scifi.com listing their new website to watch "classic" (that is in the eye of the beholder for sure) movies for free at  www.scifi.com/drivein

Most of the movies are MST3K quality, but hey, still kind of fun.

Well as long as "The Friendliest Store in Town" is around, things cannot be all bad.   I grew up near the 270 drive-in and loved going to it as a kid and a teenager.   I think we need more drive ins.

We could start a whole new topic on drive-ins... what a lost piece of Americana. Such great memories, summer nights at the drive-in. A buddy of mine had an Oldsmobile 442 SS convertible, white with big red stripes, it was an awesome ride, lol... I used to work at Six Flags and we used to hang out in the back couple rows at the I-44 Drive-In after work on weekends... what a blast...

Not to mention Giant Gila Monster, Attack of the Giant Leeches, and one of the first four to be put on DVD by The Film Crew, Killer From Space...

Ahh... the drive in...

They had a working waterfall in front that was pretty awe-inspriring for a third grader... altho it wasn't in operation all that much towards the end.

The ol' Gratiot Drive-In... Last one in my area growing up. The last movie I remember seeing there was The Last Starfighter when I was ten years old. It's now a Sam's Club / Staples / Men's Warehouse.
