I want a "Complete MST3K Collection"
« on: May 19, 2010, 10:59:56 AM »
I know this won't happen anytime soon, but I think any MST3K fan would gladly buy this. I proposee a MST3K shaped hard drive (because discs would cost way to much) containing every episode, plus behind the scenes, special features, and rough cuts. Just imagine this sitting on your desk...

I think it would be pure genius to release something like this. I personally would pay quite a bit of money for it. Thoughts?

It will never happen. Ever. Minimum reason: Sandy Frank.
You'll have to bootleg them yourself like the rest of us.
Myself, I can fit it all on two shelves with thinpacks.

Also, what's the math? 200 discs = about 1000 gigs = about $120 if the spools aren't even on sale
About the same as a TB drive, and discs don't crash!

Oh wait, discs are too expensive after media companies put media on them, agreed.

Hey, I'm just an idea guy...I didn't say it was practical. I hate not paying for something I want to support, but they aren't all available for purchase. It drives me nuts!

There would be a complete DVD collection out by now - were it not for the legal distribution rights associated with some of the movies.

What we need is to get the Japanese on board with MST. I want pristine Gamera
movies.  When Shout got the Gamera rights they tried to clear MST with them and they said no

That collection seems a heckuva lot smaller than it should be.  But then, maybe I just own too many damn movies for my own good and it just LOOKS like there's not enough collected on those shelves.  Good God, am I really pissing away that much money when I could be thinpacking MST left and right?
One Man Band Riffs.  18 riffs, over 600 served, since 2009.

Yeah, the Thinpak covers definitely make the collection look smaller but they are All There ;D

That looks a lot like mine, only no Beavis & Butthead, and all mine are followed by my newly slimcased Rifftrax collection.
...and there he was, reigning supreme at number two.  The One... The Only... The Unabeefer.

The thought of syncing all the Rifftrax I have and cataloging them makes me physically ill.

Except those rights issues probably have less to do with Toho and more to do with Sandy Frank who did the awful dubs and importing various Japanese films and shows.  He still has the distribution rights and was either offended by the mockery directed at him or simply raised the price of the rights to those films, depending on who you believe.

That's why I did it as I went along...  Although sure, I did RE-do them all in one foul swoop a while back (audio compression adjustment) but there were only 37 or so back then.

There are 160-odd episodes...so this would fit on a 750 GB drive (since they're usually sold in 250 GB installments).   That's doable.  Could even put on some extras like the Shorts and Poopie discs.

I can confirm that they All fit on a 750GB (698gb actual) hard drive with 184gb of storage left over  8)
