A MST3k Related Self Plug

Let's harken back a far off era: the 1990s. Back in that heady era of flannels, Spin Doctors and the X0Files, there were a handful of obsessed MST3k fans who emulated their favorite TV show and found deserving pieces of writing and riffed them, often publishing the results to Usenet or that new-fangled Interwebz, as it was called then.

Back in 1999, someone contacted the email list that helped control the madness of riffing, saying that they'd found a decent subject, but they'd hit a wall in the riffing of it and could someone else take over? Well, one person foolishly volunteered to take it over. Then after realizing that the story itself was novella length, he asked for others to join in as well. And they worked on it. And worked. And worked. Then, 183,000 words later, it was done and posted to the internet ten years ago today.

Ladies and gentlemen, let me present: The Misery Senshi Neo-Zero Double Blitzkrieg Debacle.

It's a charming crossover between MTV's Daria and Sailor Moon, with minor cameos by some other folks too. And what would be a better situation for a cynical teen and a quintet of Japanese superheroes to tackle? That's right. International terrorism and the rise of nationalist militias in the pre-9/11 era. Oh, and  there's a nuke eating shark and a death plane too. And it's longer than "A Tale of Two Cities."

Oh, and if you find a joke in there that you liked, chances are pretty good that it was written by Bill Livingston. Bill was a world class-MST3k fan who unfortunately passed away a few months ago.

Depressed yet? Well, you haven't seen anything yet! So sit back and enjoy as I inflict this story on another generation of fandom. And you might want to save the file to your HD, as it's pretty long and you're not likely to finish it in one sitting. Once again, The Mandarin Sith Nidorian Zanzibar Dynastic Banana Dude.  Enjoy.
