Share Your YouTube Playlists!
« on: April 22, 2010, 06:20:30 AM »
I've recently gotten into compiling playlists on YouTube. My first one is mostly Americana, bluegrass and folk and it's called North Carolina Is for Me! Someone actually subscribed, so now I'm deejaying for the masses!

Anyone have a playlist they want to share?

Sure, why not.

A list I made when brainstorming ideas for the music to a theatrical magic performance that goes horribly wrong in a film I worked on.

My list for the Top 50 '80s Songs List O'Crap with my #26 pick at the end because Prince's record label is staffed by complete tits.

The Full countdown from the List O'Crap about the '80s

Some of my favourite Cover Songs

A very specific list of cover, that of my favourite Border Ballard

I think over the weekend I'll do a Playlist of every song used in Life On Mars (somebody else has probably done that already though but I think it'll be a fun one). :)

EDIT: OK here's it is

I'm to the halfway point in the first series so far, I'll finish it over the next couple of days.

Time/Life sez
"You'd have to spend hours searching and you'd still not find all these tracks."
I say
Is that a fact?

I started a new playlist called 70s Gold, all the songs I grew up with (some are early 80s). It is definitely a work in progress.

FYI:

With the exception of Tripe's reply from May 17th, it looks like all these links are not correct. I've never created / shared a fancy youtube playlist... but I'm guessing it's something to do with your "personal" link from your profile versus the one needed to share it with others....

The working one is formatted like this:
blahblah.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=C1933BA403E665FE

The ones that don't work are formatted like this:
blahblah.youtube.com/my_playlists?p=11C26A199A8E1FD2

I got Wurwolf's tribute to Helen Reddy playlist of 70's Gold up now by making the bold changes.

And fixed. :)

You've already listened to the covers one though way back.  :)

Oh, thanks for the heads up.

Not just Helen Reddy, lots of other 70s hits there as well. So there!

ETA: By the way, Tripe, I'm going through your Flower Power playlist and adding the ones I like to my 70s Gold. Thanks!

You're just living in a world of make believe.

Well, maybe.

You should also comb through my Life on Mars playlist, nothing but 70s gold there (well and golden Prog too)

Love Angie Baby; it's decidedly creepy .

Also I can substitute Ann's full name in the Edison Lighthouse song. :)

It is, I remember it being one of those songs that creeped me out when I was a kid. "Ode to Billy Joe" did the same. WHAT DID THEY THROW OFF THE BRIDGE??!???!?

For extra creep, my birthday is June 3.

Hmm I'd never heard that song before, so I looked it up.

This is pre-Roe v Wade isn't it?

Also, if Anne Hathaway wants to add a musician's biopic to her credits I have the perfect girl for her.

I love that Edison Lighthouse song. When I was a kid I used to think they wrote it about me (I think I was like 6 or 7 when it came out). My buddy Freedy Johnston did an excellent cover of it:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/Dt4ek3dZkdo&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1&amp;" target="_blank" class="new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/Dt4ek3dZkdo&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1&amp;</a>

But then everything Freedy does is excellent. His cover of "Wichita Lineman" is very moving, and I'd link that as well but I can't seem to find the studio version.

And haha, you're right, Bobby Gentry does look like Anne Hathaway.
