"I've had better days" reference?

Who/what is the "i've had better days" quote from? From the scene when jake first meets the na'vi tribe and is led into a circle of na'vi around a fire.

I think it was just a Super Fabulous guy impression. Like Paul Lynde or Charles Nelson Reilly. That's my take on the joke.

Any possibility it's a riff on a line from Cinematic Titanic's The Alien Factor - when they kill the alien in the mayor's yard?

That used to be a pretty common phrase, so I wouldn't assume that it was a reference. Do you young whipper-shnappers not use that any more?

I thought the actual quote on that part of CT's Alien Factor was "I've been better!" :o

True.  But that doesn't mean that whoever suggested it for use here remembered it verbatim.
