I learned that the stuff the everybody is after is called "Unobtainium."  Seriously.  I heard the term in Spoony's review and I thought it was an obscure movie term for a plot device like a MacGuffin.
Well, it is, actually...

I just always expect better fake scientific terminology in Sci-Fi films.   For example "dilithium."

I don't like the term Unobtanium. They should have called it Costsalotium.

Ratchet does have some Na'vi type qualities. Or vice versa.

I also learned that even though the "flux" messes up radar and guidance systems, it apparently doesn't mess up the signals that let the drivers link to their avatars.  Come to think of it, how do they link to the avatars, is there a radio receiver where the brain should be?  Where's the antenna? What kind of signal is it that lets them travel where ever they want and not lose contact?  Man this movie needs a continuous scroll along the bottom that says, "don't think, just watch the pretty pictures".

Just call the "stuff" what it is: plotdevicium

I was thinking the same thing when I watched it.

And the substance should have been called McGuffium.

I learned that even though the Na'vi can talk with the trees, and all the trees are connected, they are still taken by surprise by the GIANT BULLDOZERS TRAMPLING THE TREES FOR THREE MONTHS to get to them!

I learned that giant bright blue aliens are surprisingly difficult to hit.

I learned that aliens with bright blue skin and glow in the dark acne still put on war paint.

I learned that it takes 300 million dollars of CGI to get me to trick me into watching Dances With Wolves again.

Wait, you got to watch Dances With Wolves?!

Damnit! I would have killed to get Dances with Wolves.

They made me watch an 8th grade Earth Day play.

I learned you don't need 3D glasses, but beergoggles certainly help.

They should have called it "upsadasium"  and had a guest appearance by Rocky and Bullwinkle to explain it.   Then the floating mountains would have made sense.

It all looks real pretty on an Imax screen, though.
