I just find it funny that anyone would come onto the rifftrax forum and be upset that the section devoted to a riffed movie was not full of posts about how good the movie was.  I mean it's not like this is a site or a section for fans.  Rifftrax is all about poking holes and making fun of stuff, not saying how great it is or how there is nothing wrong with it and Rifftrax has taken many more shots at Star Trek and Star Wars then it has at Twilight.  If this section upsets you so much maybe you should just stay away from it because it's a fair bet no one is going to be saying anything good about Twilight in this section.  Just saying is all.

Point to post where I was upset about people knocking Twilight.  I've even said that I don't like Twilight.  Hell, half the time I'm not even talking about Twilight! How about reading and understanding what I wrote before replying, Doc.

I was specifically talking about fandom.  About why people feel its okay to knock the fans of something, when they themselves have their own niche interests.  Tyrant made some perfectly reasonable points, and I can see where she's coming from.

Is it OK for me to admit that I'm actually looking forward to seeing where the story goes in the next movie?  Regardless of eventual Rifftrax, I think I might check out Eclipse in the theater.

I found New Moon to be goofy fun.  And if tons of people out there are into it, then what does it matter?  Nobody is making anybody watch it or even pay any attention to it.  I can accept it for what it is, a goofy piece of popcorn cinema.

Some people on here, it seems, are addicted to hyperbole.

If you have a problem with people knocking Twilight and it's fans I still say you should just stay out of the Twilight section of the Rifftrax forum.  Again Rifftrax is about making fun of things not praising them or saying "Well that's ok I respect that thing because you are a fan of it and I will not mock it". If you have a problem with things being mocked this may not be the site for you.

If they took it off of tv,Magazines, and stopped playing the movies on hundreds of TVs in every public place that would be true.  I rally don't think stores should have TVs playing movies all the time that that reason, also all the tvs now adays give me a headache.

I tried to watch the news last night,The News.  it was just one clip of Twilight and one story about the book after another.  There is no way to ignore it any more,it is being forced on us.  You have not heard me complain about Desperate Housewives because I can ignore it,it's not being shoved in my face every time I leave the house or try to watch the news.  I would be more then happy to ignore Twilight as I did when it was just the books and when the first movie came out but now the only way to not see twilight every time you open your eye is to kill yourself.

We thought the nightmare was over... but another chapter of the Twilight saga is coming.

This one is a spin-off story about a girl who gets turned into a vampire in order to kill Bella. Yes, even in the side story, it's all centered around Bella.

 Lord, will this ever end?...

I honestly have no idea what you are talking about.  Sure Twilight gets a lot of attention, but so does Lost, Dancing With The Stars, American Idol, and other things.

I don't see it as being any different than any other pop culture phenomenon.  Eventually it's time will pass and the public will latch onto something else.  This sort of thing has been going on since before you were born.  Before I was born.  You might as well get used to it.

And Trekers and Star wars fans are mocked all the time and in general reguarded as losers.  Also look at the number of threads on this forum devoted to pointing out plot holes and bad acting in Star trek and Star wars.  Even the fans of those franchises ripp into those movies.  Take a look at the Doctor Who thread,no one is harder on that show then the fans.  Why should twilight and Twilight fans not be treated the same as other fans.  You show me any where in the world where trekers are not mocked and you will have a point.  Look all i am saying is that Twilight fans are not treated any worse then any other group of fans,in fact it could be said that they are treated better because it is assumed that they will grow out of being loser.  if you are a Treker you are a loser for the rest of your life.

The point of it all? Everything we like is ridiculous and we know it. We like it anyway and we all help each other out by giving ourselves and everyone else thick skins and not taking things so seriously (most healthy, sane fans, I might add. Not the psycho ones). Does anyone think Mike and crew would even be doing Rifftrax if, at the end of the day, they didn't actually love bad movies? It's the same difference. .

I don't think this is true for everyone, I know a BIG part of the reason I don't get upset or even slightly bothered about remakes, adaptions, prequels, etc is because I understand most of what I like is silly and largely not popular.  However I think a lot of people (not just on here) take their own tastes MUCH more seriously than they do other people's and would be outraged if someone questioned it (the 'what's the big deal' thread in the Casablanca sub-board springs to mind)

The constant and vitriolic nature of the anti-Twilight stuff is what strikes me the most, I don't think it is as good natured as you seem to.  Perhaps like you're suggesting it's a lot of it just angry nerds striking back at a mainstream pop-culture phenomenon after a lifetime of having people make fun of their more niche fandom? then there's just the irrational people,  who shall go unnamed  :D

If you have a problem with people talking about having a problem, then you should probably stop telling people that this may not be the site for them, because you've spent that nickel. Just accept that people think differently. They can post wherever they want.

Evidently, there's two Twilight inspired cookbooks, and the latter one has a recipe for Bella's Chicken Enchiladas. Did I miss her affinity for them in the movies or something? Supposedly, there's a Bella-inspired recipe for a rockin' grilled cheese sandwich, too!   :P

I'm so going to add this to my latest Amazon purchase.
