Missed Opportunities
« on: March 22, 2010, 12:41:20 PM »
A whole movie with werewolves and not one"Wurwulf" reference? When I learned one of the werewolves was named Paul, I had to say, "Paul, you is a Warwilf!"

YES!!!  I was thinking about this, too (at least the warwilf, not so much about Paul)!!!!!  YES!!!

Also, the vapo-vampire, could have used a, "My most precious life" a-la Gary Oldman as Dracula after he green misted his way to Mina's presence.

I'd have loved it if they had pointed out that the song that starts with "There's a possibility" sounds like "There's a possum in the tea."

But maybe that's just me. :)

I think I noticed another missed opportunity, but I can't remember it now -- will have to give it some thought.

They hit the Gmork reference, so, for me, anything else would be nitpicking.

So as long as we're nitpicking  ;), I was kinda hoping they'd comment on the "It's a possibility..." lyric.  Seeing how it was a montage though (and speaking from experience), any time there's a dialogue-less montage, it's the perfect time to banter.  So I understand the trade-off there.

Your use of Banter makes me think of: "I can't understand your banter. Might you slow it down?" "Slower banter, sir?!"

We did not have a Gmork reference, but on our riff on the second "There's a possibility...." I sang the next line as "I took too much medica-a-ation...."

I was waiting for "Wipeout!" after Volturi's silly giggle.

A fight between two huge wolves and no Michael Vick joke?

Edit: Also surprised there was no Shutter Island reference when Bella dove off the cliff.  Especially when they managed to get a Extraordinary Measures reference in RotJ (although since that fizzled maybe they decided not to get so current in future).

Although, most of Bella's actions made me think Shutter Island and certain medical procedure.....

I was really hoping for Edgar K. B. Montrose riffs on Graham Greene.

Either I missed it, or they missed out on a golden opportunity to do a Frost/Nixon reference when Michael Sheen was onscreen...Instead they went for the gay jokes. Understandable, but even a "When the Volturi do it, it's not illegal!" when they're leaving and Bella looks back as the Volturi's victims scream would've been hilarious.
