What is the most insane album you have ever heard?
« on: March 22, 2010, 07:18:33 AM »
I was cleaning some stuff up in my mom and dad's room this morning and any way I stubbed my toe on a case that had a bunch of my dad's old audio cassets in and and while it had a lot of dated and kind of weird stuff in it nothing matches the out and out weirdness of this album

Yes it is real and it is not a joke.

The first song is about how tough Mickey Mouse is and how all the woman faint away when they see him and they all go for his ears ???

Here is the complete track list and remember these are all disc songs.

1.Disco Mickey Mouse
2.Welcome to Rio
3.The greatest Band
4.Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah
5.Macho Duck
6.Mousetrap
7.Watch out for Goofy
8.It's a small World
9.Chim Chim Cher-ee

Words can not get across how insane this album sounds and just how insane the words to some of the songs are,I am still laughing.

I don't know what was going on in 79 but it was bad.

What is the most insane album you have ever heard?

The most insane album I have ever heard would have to be... without a doubt... Happy hour by King Missile.

and that is the most accessible album from King Missile.... If you think that one is insane try one of the older ones like Mystical Shit or They.

Hey! I used to have that record! :^)

This:

After their father becomes convinced that his previously un-musical teenaged daughters will become huge rock stars, he convinces them to record an album. It turns out just about as well as you'd expect. Here's the best known song, best known from Dr. Demento:

No, no, no! The Shaggs' best known song is - rightly so - My Pal Foot Foot.

The most insane album I've ever heard is probably Zappa's Freak Out.  Although Mike Patton's Adult Themes for Voice is a strong contender and there are some releases by the likes of Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Magma and others that are nuts in various ways, Freak Out is astonishingly insane even for the time.

Also, California is definitely Mr Bungle's best album, but it's not their craziest. That would be Disco Volante.

Hey...!  I own Disco Mickey Mouse on vinyl (it's in my iTunes now).  I actually have a sick fascination with insane music.  For someone who love(d) Dr. Demento's show, that shouldn't come as a surprise.  Here's a list of the most insane stuff that I've not only heard but actually own:

Charlie Brown kids covering The Beatles on kid toys
Lullaby renditions of NIN, Radiohead, Bjork & Metallica
Bill Cosby & Quincy Jones' nonsensical team-up
Ben Folds' William Shatner album
The Ninja Turtles' rock album
90s children's Christian cartoon rap music

Kidz Bop and pretty much any rap album hold a special place in the realm of insanity.

But the most insane album I've heard (and this is obviously saying a lot):
Bjork's Medulla album.  One song she basically just orgasms her way through. Here's another reason why.  It's a concept album of, er, her voice?

I haven't heard this, but I felt it's worth a mention:

In the same vein, I suggest giving this awesome stuff a read:  6 Albums By Rock Legends That Were Thinly Veiled 'F#@k You's

The Ninja Turtles' rock album

You don't know insane until you've watched the tour video. :^)

Oh... I have.  And you're right.  The visuals/overall experience are somehow compoundly more insane than the music itself.  I lived in New Jersey at the time and remember begging my parents to take me to see that.  "Pleeeeease?  I mean, New York is right there!"

I'd have to give the award to Imaginarium, by Terry S. Taylor. If you've ever played Neverhood, that's the soundtrack. It's insane, but oh, so awesome. :^)

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/DXQ2lvgpHiE&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1&amp;" target="_blank" class="new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/DXQ2lvgpHiE&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1&amp;</a>

I always wondered who did the music for that.  I thought Leon Redbone was involved with it for some reason...I think a reviewer mentioned it sounded like him on a couple of songs.  And for a long time I loved just coming up with lyrics for what I thought it sounded like they were saying.  Shame that the soundtrack's going for $50 on Amazon now, though.

As for absolute oddest CD I've personally listened to, I'd have to go with The Frogs, "My Daughter the Broad."  If you don't know The Frogs...well, other than the album, I haven't really heard anything else by them, but apparently they used to tour with Smashing Pumpkins and wear bat-wing costumes.  They are two incredibly weird guys that basically sit in a recording studio and just make up songs about the craziest, many times wildly offensive nonsense.  I wouldn't say it's all necessarily good or funny (some of it is hysterical, though), but it definitely qualifies as insane.

For example, one of the songs, sung in the put-on voice of what I guess is an 85-year-old man, goes, "I'm sad because my goat just died todayyyy...I'm saaaaad, my goat just fell in the hayyyyyyyyy....HEY!"
One Man Band Riffs.  18 riffs, over 600 served, since 2009.
