I had fun seeing this, good mindless entertainment.  I only really have one problem with it.

I thought it was stupid, but at least well made, so it was entertaining, though it has no re-watch value.  Which is about what you can expect for most Roland Emmerich films.  More importantly, it's prime riffing fodder.

Oh....I think this one was pretty much a given.

Any blockbuster is a given

You know what would be really awesome if they riffed this? If they had Al Gore as a guest riffer. I think he'd have a blast taking a shot at the horrifying science in the movie. Not to mention he can poke fun at himself - and can be seriously funny, as seen with his appearances on Futurama. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0Adq5DP99s ; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQCaTauJwKc

I liked this one just fine... but for the same reason I like most things from Emmerich... when he's on his game, he makes damn good popcorn movies. Independance Day, 2012, Day After Tomorrow, The Patroit, Universal Soldier, Stargate... movies that are all perfectly happy being over-the-top horseshit... and I think that's the point that some people miss... the ones who berate his stuff for silly plot cliches or two dimensional characters... The guy has been playing the same hand for 20 years, at some point the joke is on you for not just accepting what he's trying to do. He ain't in the business of making character studies...

That said, all his movies have or would make excellent riff subjects. While I don't generally think Emmerich movies take themsevles too seriously, well maybe The Patriot did, but anyways... they take themselves just seriously enough to where the riffs can hit home.

Netflix is shipping this wonder tomorrow and I am counting the seconds until it is riffed.

This movie is right in their wheelhouse.

We just watched it last night and it turned into a riffing bonanza!

For the heck of it, here is the stinger...

I can't wait for 2012 to get here.

The year, not the movie.  The movie was terrible.

Well, not terrible.  Too cheesy to watch more than once.

The only problem with this I had was that words got in the way of stuff being wrecked.

As the Angry Video Game Nerd said of The Wizard

"I saw it in the theater on opening day, and here's a re-enactment:  'What the fuck is this shit?  I don't care what these people are talking about.  Look at this, what game is that?  Who the Hell are you?  Go back to The Wonder Years you freakin' piece of shit. ... What games are they playing?  Turn around, I wanna see the damn games!' "
