two star crossed lovers, that is, Slumdog Millionare the movie and Mike +the gang, are destined to be together to form the most feel good riff of the year.

if you don't appreciate this film then you and hope don't belong in the same sentence, or room. You don't understand what hope is, you need a heavy dose of pointless cheerfulness mr. mcscrooginton!

Yeah, although I don't think Slumdog is anywhere near Boyle's best work I'm really not sure the film lends itself to riffing that much.

If Titanic lends itself to riffing with the corny love cliches, then so should this.

Jesus, Gladiator deserved its oscar more than this! Especially, ESPECIALLY when titanic and Casablanca can be made fun of, it's so obvious! The fact Slumdog isn't half the good movie Titanic is gives us a nice palate of mediocrity to laugh at as well. When the little fucking kids effortlessly escape the bad guys at the beginning I can already hear them humming the indiana jones theme.

I was more thinking of the child-mutilation personally

Yeah it's not that the movie is a precious movie per se it's just some of the story elements might not serve too well as a spring board for jokes.

It's not meant to be realistic.  If anything, it's more like a fairy tale.

Be that as it may, it's not one that provides much in the way of material for other jokes.

I would like to have a constructive debate about it.  I want to know why you believe that it doesn't lend itself to jokes.

For one, Mike, Bill and Kevin love to make  superficially observational jokes about how unintentionally funny a situation looks and sounds. An indian version of Regis Philbin alone is a very unintentionally funny thing they can mock, imitate, bring up cliches from the original Millionare show and tie them with the ridiculous circumstances of the film, the jokes are limitless.

Mike, Kevin, and Bill are at their best when they are  in awe of how ridiculous the circumstances of a film are.. When you see each "improbability  on top of improbability" as Salmon Rushdie describes, there is SO much the riff crew can be saying.

Just answer this at least: doesn't the  limitless amount of ridiculousness in the film lend itself to a limitless supply of funny comments? Think about it.

Nope it's never happening. And I'm perfectly OK with that.

Are you going to contribute something constructive or just pointless snarky comments?

The movie deals with some of the horrible things that occur in the lives of the untouchables and as such it'd be difficult to add jokes to the commentary and not seem like a colossal arse.

I think Scott summed it up fairly succinctly a few posts back:

I was more thinking of the child-mutilation personally
