Well said, Compound, that's exactly how I saw it.
While I was watching this, I was exasperated with the couple's lack of self preservation, to the point where I really hoped something bad would happen to them. From their experience, I learned:
-There is only ONE person who could possibly attempt an exorcisim in the San Diego area (so...no priests or other psychics in the area?), and if he goes on vacation while you've got an infestation, you're screwed.
-I learned that if you're threatened by a demon, then you should not try to leave your house and seek shelter in a church.
-When a demon is leading you in a certain direction (by slamming doors, opening hatches into attics, etc), don't try to resist or leave the area. You should go where the demon wants you to (by opening the doors, crawling through the attic hatch, etc).
-When someone says that they want to leave or that it's time to leave, what they really mean is that they're going to stay.
