Ah...Light-gun games.  From the moment I stepped up to Operation Wolf, I was hooked.  I think the main reason I bought a Sega Saturn was for Virtua Cop and its sequel.  House of the Dead is pretty cool, too.  I haven't played the new Aliens one, but I expect it's going to scare the crap out of me when I do.

I've beat all three house of the dead games in the arcade, and done my fair share of waiting to play.  It's scary when the people in front of you look like they know how to hold a pistol a little too well.

I'll have to check out this aliens game.

Very cool... where it not for the decline of arcades in my area, I would go dump some quarters on it. :(

It looks pretty cool:

Yeah it looks sweet live. They are going to release another "Deluxe" version of the game here soon, with a nice 42" widescreen. :D

I'm still working on mastering Duck Hunt. If only I could shoot that damn dog.  Then at least there'd be some satisfaction.

Has anyone else had a chance to try this game out? Thoughts?

I coulda' swore that i was playing this game in an arcade years ago! And now that someone has posted a picture of it, it really looks familiar. Even the level shown on the screen looks the same~ I totally remember shooting aliens as they crawled outta' the ceiling and those little chestbusters as they crawled down the corridors. They even bled acid that would seep through the floors. Was there an older edition of this or something?

From Gamespot:

Quote

Arcade gamers can prep for another bug hunt, as Global VR today announced that it is working on a new coin-op adventure based on Aliens, the second film of the sci-fi horror series.

While no release date has been set for Aliens: Extermination, Global VR did shed a little light on the game's story. After Ripley and her Colonial Marines escape the planet, a second group of marines is sent in to exterminate the remaining bugs. That's where the players come in, armed with the film's signature 10mm Pulse Rifle (complete with 30mm grenade launcher).

The game is being developed by Glen Ellyn and Illinois-based Play Mechanix, creators of light-gun games like Invasion: The Abductors and three installments in the Big Buck Hunters series. The company's light-gun roots stretch even deeper, as company founder George Petro formerly worked as a game designer for Midway, helping put together Terminator 2: Judgment Day and the Revolution X, featuring Aerosmith.

Global VR's previous products include arcade conversions of Electronic Arts' Need for Speed, Madden NFL Football, and PGA Tour Golf series. It also produces the Vortek arcade system, which lets users control games such as Invasion Earth and Beach Head 2003: Desert War using a VR helmet on a swinging arm in front of the unit.

I dumped MANY a quarter on their T2 game. That and Virtua Cop are my favorite gun games.
