Microsoft Brings the Arcade Back to your Living Room
« on: January 08, 2010, 09:14:56 AM »
From CES:

And the launch games:
1. Centipede (arcade)
2. Asteroids Deluxe (arcade)
3. Tempest (arcade)
4. Crystal Castles (arcade)
5. Lunar Lander (arcade)
6. Jungler (arcade)
7. Road Fighter (arcade)
8. Scramble (arcade)
9. Finalizer (arcade)
10. Tutankham (arcade)
11. Shao-Lin's Road (arcade)
12. Super Cobra (arcade)
13. Red Baron (arcade)
14. Gravitar (arcade)
15. Battlantlis
16. Astrosmash (Intellivision)
17. Mountain Madness Super Pro Skiing (Intellivision)
18. Armor Battle (Intellivision)
19. Space Hawk (Intellivision)
20. Sub Hunt (Intellivision)
21. Sea Battle (Intellivision)
22. Space Armada (Intellivision)
23. Astrosmash (Intellivision)
24. Star Raiders (Atari 2600)
25. Outlaw (Atari 2600)
26. Yar's Revenge (Atari 2600)
27. Millipede (Atari 2600)
28. Football (Atari 2600)
29. RealSports Tennis (Atari 2600)
30. Combat (Atari 2600)

Oooh. The chance to play Combat in HD. 'Cause the sets of the 1980s weren't up to handling that much graphical power.

Still, this looks like a neat time waster, especailly if more arcade games get in there. But really, MS, it should have been 25 points per play.

Oh, hell. They found one of my weak spots. A launch day incentive for buying the games on day 1 of release:

Quote
If you buy the game on the day of launch, you get a little mascot that runs around your arcade tower thing.

The mascot is a little sprite character of the game. If you buy battlezone on launch day, you get a little battlezone tank roaming around your arcade.

Must resist...

Oooh! It's like Playstation home, except relevant to Gamers. :^)

No resisting for me. Classic Arcade = Irresistable, and the ability to play on my PC too if I want is gravy. And if I could have the little garden gnome from Centepede (Yes, it was a garden gnome shooting the Centipede, so the legend goes) then that's like- BACON-flavored gravy.

I will actualy be buying alot of the games and customizations for this "Game room". If anyone wants to add me to their friends list and just play at it whenever im not there they are free to do so.

Knowing me I will probably collect all the arcade games in a matter of a month or two (and keep buying them as they are released)..... God damn OCD

looks like this was released yesterday.  i'll have to check it out when i get home tonight.  i wired up a panel with arcade joysticks and buttons in anticipation for this to come out.  just need to finish wiring it up to the pc input card and then waste all my spare time playing some classic arcade games :)

pfffttt.... no GALAGA??  How can you have a classic arcade room and no Galaga!?

When they do add Galaga I wonder if the old school cheat will still work? I know it worked on a couple of Namco collections over the years.

You also have the option to pay to play a single game, just like dropping two quarters in the slot in the old arcades, for 40 Microsoft Points.

In my day it was 1 quarter!!!
