Watched the first episode on FX yesterday....... REALLY damned good.

Agreed.  It feels a little like No Country for Old Men, but crossed with Deadwood.

Aside from the religious aspects of their lifestyle, I am strongly considering becoming Amish, or moving to a third world country and living with a native tribe that has never been exposed to American pop culture...you know, somewhere so absolutely remote that, if a nuclear holocaust wiped out the entire civilized world, it would take them a year or two to find out about it, and then only because there was no more garbage floating down their river, which meant something had changed upstream.

I used to work and live in Amish country.  The Amish are not nearly as isolated as you think.  I'd see them all the time at the local stores.  The WalMart even had stalls for parking their horses.

Oh I know...I live 10 miles from Parkesburg, PA where there is a huge Walmart.  I have seen the stalls, the horse turds in the parking lot, and the Amish lady in cap and bonnet walking down the aisle talking on her cell phone.

That's the one I was talking about!  I used to work in Coatesville and live in New Holland.  The horse poop all over the roads grossed me out, and I kept having dreams of being buried in it.

LOL!  Im in Coatesville!!  As soon as you mentioned the horse hitches at the Walmart, I kind of had a feeling.

IMHO, the invisible dividing line between the midwest and the northeast is Rt 10 itself - go 5 miles one way and your in Amish country with corn as far as the eye can see; go 5 miles the other way and its the burbs of Philly.  Go across the Delaware border, and there are confederate flags waving.  Its an interesting area here...

I saw the last ten minutes of the show the other night.  It actually wasnt that bad when they werent trying to beat South Park for how many times they could PG-13 curse in one episode.

I think "The Shield" had that one covered!

Did they say "doodyballs"?

Yep they did.  It will be just an episode or two before we see some dudes hairy butt or some chick's side-boob.

I'll have to admit that so far the show has exceeded my expectations.  The guy that wrote the books that this show is based on grew up in Harlan County, and I think that hes done a good job capturing the general feel of the place.

From this weeks episode, I would have to say that I have never seen or heard of a jailhouse band.  On the other hand, the chick in the trailor park shacking up with her third cousin and then going in with her ex husband to steal a bunch of money and then all three ending up in jail after at least on of them gets killed...that could just as easily be someone in my family.  In Harlan, there is a high degree of crime, but a high degree of basic stupidity to go with it.

They should just change the name of the channel to SideBoob.

Well, you know, they had to name the series based on reoccuring themes in the series.  After much deliberation, it came down between "Justified" and "Shit".  The former won out, though the ladder seems to be more fitting since they try to say it at least once a minute.

Also:

I would watch this show.

In the first episode, he shoots a guy in self defense.  He gets reprimanded and transfered to the US Marshall's office in Kentucky even though he swears that he was justified.

Random trivia: What is the tallest building in Harlan, KY?
Answer: The county jail.

I was hoping about a guy named Reginald T. Ified, and when he nabs you, you're just "Ified." And maybe he'd say things like, "Go ahead on. It's your move." Either that, or it stars Justin Bateman banging a lot of broads and declaring that they have been JUSTified.

No, but really, why the disconnect in the middle of the word though? Any reason?
