yeah i bought the original game way back when and still have it.  nothing too original in the storyline but good all the same.  and yes, there were exploding clown midgets in some parts of the game. :P

Just a quick bump considering this is coming out next weekend.  I've read a couple of early print reviews, and they are glowing.  Describing the game as massive and beautiful with tons of stuff to do.  Can't wait!

    • Yep, I have a deviantART gallery. But it's pretty cheerful drawings-- no angsty poems or black-and-white photos of wooden chairs.

I put this in the PS3 topic, but it'll be more at home here.

This pretty much sums up my thoughts on this game for about the past six months:

And my new monitor will be here within a couple days of me buying the game. I'll get to play it in shiny HD. ^_^

I used to have an image here, but Photobucket got cheap about remote linking. I guess I'll have to think of something witty instead. Which I will. Later. It caught me by surprise, in all honesty. It's hard to be clever on command, I mean, YOU try it. Be funny: NOW! See, tough. So, gimme a bit, 'kay?

Top 5 reasons why Red Dead Redemption will kick ass

I didn't know about this game nor cared until this video.  Now I'm pissed off because this isn't coming out on PC.  I don't own any consoles.

I wouldn't be surprised if it did get ported, though. Maybe they're waiting to see how well it does on the consoles, or maybe they didn't want to wait until it was ported to a third platform before releasing it.

As I recall, Rockstar didn't announce a PC version of any of the Grand Theft Auto III series until several months after the PlayStation releases.  They like to milk the console audience for as long as possible before they put out the instantly- and widely-pirated PC version.  Announcing early means fewer people who bite the bullet and buy it on the consoles.

I own Vice City for PC but I didn't remember it coming out until a year after the PS2 release.  That does seem to be their usually method.

I'm not worried though.  You'd have to be insane not to take advantage of the PC only market so they'll have a release eventually.  At least I will have found out how awesome it is (or if it sucks ass) in plenty of time to decide if I want it.

Have Rockstar gotten better with their PC ports? I bought GTA 3 for the PC and ran horribly on my then-ninja Alienware PC.  I remember having problems with San Andreas too.

Vice City works great.  Never played the other ones.  The only issue I can recall is in the auto-targeting.  I've never been able to get it to work but I've beaten the whole game a few times without it anyway.

Weird.  I've never had any performance issue with any of the GTA IIIs.

Nor auto-targeting, since I use the mouse/keyboard for all of my on-foot murderin' and lootin'.

Might have to give this one a try, after seeing what they're doing with the open world multiplayer. That could be awesome, if it's handled well. I do love me some wild west action... if anyone can make a game that is actually fun in that setting, it's probably Rockstar.

Their next game has me pretty excited too, LA Noire, which is an open-world detective game set in the 50s.

Oh HELL YES!

But back to the prior topic... less than two hours! *happygasms* I called up Meijer (like a Wal-Mart, but limited to Michigan and a few surrounding states. Also, not pure evil) to make sure they'd be selling it at 12:01. They're not really a video game store so I wanted to make sure before I made the trip down there in the dead of night.

To tide everyone over, Gametrailers put up a review while I was napping.
