Well to be fair it did look like it was man made and it is 300 years in the future,maybe they found Dilitium crystals deep under Iowa.

Wow...changing the timeline even did that?

I think it's more likely that that's where they mined the magical stuff that's allowing them to build Constitution-class heavy cruisers on the ground in Iowa and then get them off the planet in one piece.
