--- Quote from: Thrifty on November 18, 2009, 03:34:17 AM ---I wonder if reporters ever actually say "off the record" in real life.  Also, is that statement binding in any way at all?  Is there any mechanism that prevents a reporter from saying "tell me this... off the record" then printing up whatever is said anyway?

Off the record,
I believe too many broken verbal contracts have made "piss off" the only safe and acceptable response to pushy news reporters
though wikipedia does say this:

--- Quote ---Even if they cannot report certain information directly, journalists can use "off the record" information to uncover related facts, or to find other sources that are willing to speak on the record. This is especially useful in investigative reporting.

--- End quote ---
In conclusion,
Piss Off   ;)

Thrifty:
I learned that fallen angels cannot enter hallowed ground.  Or maybe they can.  I'm not sure.

Bob:
I learned that police will see a guy with a flaming head ride up and down buildings with his wheels on fire and not be a bit bothered by that.
