CT Live in St. Charles, MO
« on: November 14, 2009, 02:38:02 PM »
Hey I am going to see CT live! in St. Charles and wondered if anyone on here has seen them? I think they will be good but am not sure. I have always felt that they need to combine the projects and do like Riff Titanic featuring Joel, Trace, J., Mary Jo, Frank, Mike, Bill, and Kevin. No puppets but would be a masterpiece of riffs. Anyway back on subject does anyone know if they are as funny live as the dvds?

Hey dude, SEE YOU THERE!    I got my tickets and am set.

I have not seen them live, but from ALL accounts, they kill.    The movie is supposed to "The War of the Insects" and will be the first time they have done that one live, so I am pumped.

If this is the one at the Family Arena, I'll be there too. We should form some kind of meet up or something.

That is a good idea.

I WISH I could go to the panel on Friday night, but I am flying in to STL for a long Thanksgiving break Friday night and I will have to use the folks' car on Saturday as it is.

Anyone else going?

I ordered my tickets eons ago and I finally looked at them today...... they are floor level and 7 rows from the stage! dead center.

I ordered two tickets and the buddy who was going to go to it cannot make it.   Since I live in Houston now I do not know anyone in STL who would want to go (my family is not a big fan), so, if anyone wants to go, I have an extra seat.    They are $40 tickets, but since that is a sunk cost to me, you can buy me a beer.

Floor seating, section B1 (the middle), row 7.    I will see the whites of their eyes!

I'm on the floor too, I just don't know remember where. Wouldn't it be funny if we were right next to each other?

I can't believe I didn't make it last year and I'm not going to make it this year either. But I am making it to the Rifftrax Live at the AMC Esquire on Big Bend. It was a great venue for the Plan 9 show, and should be awesome for the Christmas show as weell (and reasonably priced!).

3 hours until show time, 2 hours until they open the doors.

Just finished dinner with the folks and "getting ready".    I hope I dont look like too big of a geek asking them to sign a DVD cover (the one that I made!) and a t-shirt (assuming they are selling t-shirts).

Sadly, had to miss dinner with RAD (AKA Mr. Mary Jo) and the group, but I will be at the show.

Pictures to come!

Live riffing is fun!

Very enjoyable show for a very bad movie, "War of the Insects".    I cannot wait for this one to get on DVD eventually because this one humdinger of a film.

The arena was configured for about 1300 people.   Before the show Joel was thanking the publicity manager of the Arena and mentioned that last year there was 1250 people and this year there was 1251, so in about ten years the place would be packed.

All of the performers have a nice, easy vibe about them and they all seemed very sure of themselves onstage...... you can tell they really like performing live.    "Gruber" was a very good warm up guy with some pretty clever stuff and you could tell he would be a riot in person.    I am not sure I will ever get the mental image of RAD strutting around like a Euro male model showing off the DVDs you could purchase after the show.   Frank and Josh also had a opening musical sketch which was entertaining.

This was the first time for them to do live "War of the Insects" and, I am not sure what kind of message the movie makers were trying to delivery, but the goofiness of it kind of submarined it.    Perfect riffing fodder.   All of them got of some great lines and even the one or two flubbed ones came out funny as they were realizing the flubs as it happened.

After the show, was the "stand in line and get things signed" part of the show.   We were near the end of the line and after an hour of signing and talking to folks, they still were smiling and seemed genuinelly happy to see us.    I've never gotten ANYONE'S autograph on ANYTHING before, but I did get a poster for them to sign and the DVD cover I made for "Doomsday Machine" to sign.   I am sure this is like most people, you have all these clever things in your head to say, and all that comes out is "thank you, that was a really good show" and you sound like a goober.   I am sure they get that 1000 times a day.    They were all very nice and pleasant to all the fans.   Joel and Trace actually complimented my cover and asked if I was a graphic artist (as you can see, they are very nice to fans, even as they were probably giggling at my efforts on the inside).

They made everything look effortless and I am sure they could do these kind of shows forever if they wanted.   They all seemed be be very fresh and in good health too...... I guess being good people and clean living pays off.

I did not really take any pictures except for one or two as I did not want to be one of those guys who is flashing lights in their faces.

Nice to meet some of the people that you see on the CT and RT sights too.   Just a really great time and I am glad I went.

I told Joel during the autograph signings that War of the Insect's predicted itself: It was a bomb. He quite enjoyed that. That makes me happy.

I hope they come back next year.

According to the girl who sat next to me, Joel said that East Meets Watts should be out sometime before Christmas.
