Then, I have to *cringe* say that Bay did something right *gag*.....he used real voice actors to do voice work instead of getting "names" to come in and do it just to impress their children.

Don't give Bay too much credit though. For whatever reason he didn't tinker with Frank Welker's Dr. Claw growl to make it resemble Soundwave.

The most irritating thing is that they almost, just barely, started to introduce some depth with Jetfire but abandoned it for a comical rant and a cheap fart joke. HE SWITCHED SIDES, which means that all Decepticons are not necessarily evil, and yet Optimus and all the 'Good Guys' seem to enjoy tearing their heads in two more than trying to talk with them. The sides, of any argument, should never be so incredibly distinct. The was a thin sliver of hope for something redeeming in this movie's plot that LITERALLY up and vanished like a fart in the wind.

I guess "Till All Are One." just went straight out of the window with these movies. It's more like "Screw you if you're a Decepticon." regardless of the fact you aren't friendly with the Decepticon faction as a whole. It's wonderful how they turned Optimus into a cold sparked killer. Those Decepticons weren't really doing anything. If anything the alleged heroic Autobots were acting more like the aggressors. You could say that the Decepticons were evil because they hurt human beings, but according to what was presented in this movie, they were trying to protect the survival of their species. In the G1 cartoon the evil motives of Megatron to strip the earth bare, leaving it a dead husk so he could enslave every living thing in the universe was pretty clear. In the movies you can say that The Fallen was easily evil, but the rest of the Decepticons were under his influence, including Megatron. And all the Fallen wanted to do was destroy Earth. How that would give them unlimitless supplies of energon doesn't make any sense. Wouldn't enslaving the flesh creatures after destroying the Autobots and forcing them to help them convert power into energon with renewable energy sources provide the Decepticons with a more stable energon supply?

Being a genocidal maniac is not one of my turn ons.

You make it sound like all of my fantasies are a bad thing. :(

Soundwave's voice was pretty much my favorite part of this movie.  The only real difference as far as my memory between how Welker did the voice now compared to when he did it in the 80s is depth.  Old Soundwave was a more hollow sounding voice, and while the new one is pretty much the same as Frank's Dr. Claw voice  It does make him sound more intimidating, and it also proves another reason that Bay screwed up.  The reason he claimed he had Hugo Weaving voice Megatron instead of Frank Welker is he didn't think that Frank's Megatron voice was intimidating enough...as if you can't ask Frank Welker, a man who's voiced everything from men to robots to monkeys to dogs to aliens and everything in between to give you something different.

I gotta say, I've been doing that same voice as a joke since long before I knew someone was doing it professionally. To me it might as well have been Frank Caliendo doing John Madden.

Not the most intimidating perhaps, but by comparison...

Both are silly, but that's the nature of cartoony voices.

Exactly. Remember that Decepticon car at beginning of the movie? It did NOTHING. It didn't  even transform or attack them when they were attacking it and yet Sideswipe goes in and chops it in half for now reason at all. The only thing I remembered it actually doing was jumping through that building when it was trying to get away from the Arcees. At least the big one blew some stuff up first, the car one showed no signs of hostility at all!

That big one at the beginning didn't even do anything until the Autobots came to destroy it. It was just sitting there, minding its own business. Could almost be interpreted as pure self-defense, it trying to escape (that it was highly destructive as it did was just how it was designed. Hardly its fault).

Also, someone refresh my memory, did the military actually do anything helpful in this movie? I remember the rail gun knocked testicuzilla off the pyramid, but other than that, they just seemed to scream and die.

It was carrying a Weapon of Mass Destruction....well, it had a weapon....and owning weapons in and of itself is enough to attack someone if they're not one of us....

I know!  He was waiting there for his yellow cake uranium from Niger to be delivered!   ;)

What are you talking about? If Soundwave was a real Robot that would scare me, of course I have this slight fear of automatons believe it or not, so anything mechanical that walks around and talks would frighten me.

I actually found out that one of the three motorcycles was NOT and Arcee. She was named Chromia,
but never referred to by name and looked identical to the Arcees. How did I find this out? I was bored
and wandered through the toy isle at my local store.

I think understand the movies you have to buy the toys.

That is just the most insane thing I've ever heard...figuring out a character's name in the movie by its action figure. That's some crack writing there.

I've seen the movie twice (both times with Rifftrax, I'm not stupid) and I have not heard the cycles called Arcee. Is it covered by a riff?

They are referred to a couple of times, but the only way you can catch it is with the subtitles on because it's in the background chatter. What I was wondering is why they were calling them twins when there were clearly three of them. So one of them actually had a different name . . . I still wanna know why they were even twins to begin with. It's a Bay movie, why even ask, right?

I don't think it's the writing. I think Bay and Hasbro have formed an unholy alliance. Bay provides movies that are
incredibly confusing and Hasbro fills all the plot holes in with the descriptions with their action figures. You can't understand
one without the other.

I still wanna know why they were even twins to begin with. It's a Bay movie, why even ask, right?

The reason is so they can be sold separately.
