Billy Joel

So, who here is a Billy Joel fan?  Who had a poster of him taped to their walls back in the 80's which they would occasionally take down and start smooching on when no one else was around?  Who giggled with girlish glee when the video for "A Matter Of Trust" would play on MTV?  Who thinks he'd be an interesting guy to go out to bar with for a couple of drinks and listen to him talk about his early days, how his first record company tried to screw him over, forcing him to play under an assumed name in a piano bar, etc.?  Who thought some of his stuff was okay, but he totally sold out when he released (insert song/album name here)?  Who here has seen him in concert?  Who here agrees with me that Piano Man is quite possibly one of the most solid and consistantly good albums in history?  And that Streetlife Serenade is shamefully underrated?

No.    ;)

Seriously though, I was never much of a Billy Joel fan.  Admittedly, I haven't heard much, but I never felt that he was my cup of tea.  And I absolutely loathe Uptown Girl.  ;D

I like what I hear of him on the radio, but what I get on the radio is enough.

Then again, I'm one of those "Light rock less talk station" listeners. :^)

I love Billy Joel. It amazes me how many great songs he's written. Much like Niel Diamond.

When I was probably in 1st or 2nd grade, my mom would constantly play the "Glass Houses" LP on the old Victrola... or Panasonic or whatever brand turntable we owned. So, that album has always held a special place for me.

Beyond that, he's pretty much on my "Greatest Hits" list. You know, the artists that you like enough to invest in the compilation but maybe not enough to explore the entire back catalog.
