Next time, don't quote me for something I didn't say. You make yourself look like a jackass.

I quoted you verbatim. What, pray tell, is your big slab of beef about?

I never said that "Pink Floyd is one of the most artful and original bands in Rock History." I don't know what you're definition of verbatim or quoting is, but neither is applicable to my situation. And my beef is that you seem to piss on everyone's enjoyment. Why? I have no clue. Maybe it makes you feel superior, whatever. Just do it somewhere else, okay guy?

I never said that "Pink Floyd is one of the most artful and original bands in Rock History."

I never claimed you did. Why on earth would you think I did? I am quite clearly referencing Yes, the subject of the last sentence I quoted.

And my beef is that you seem to piss on everyone's enjoyment. Why? I have no clue.

Strong words from someone who just pissed on one of the most artful and original bands in Rock history. I posit that you have kettle-like qualities in spite of your pot nature.

Just do it somewhere else, okay guy?

Well, I'm glad you think I'm an okay guy after all. That's very kind of you.

Okay there is a big messy confusion over Yes and Pink Floyd. None of them which I have described as the most artful and original Rock band in history, so maybe you're lost in translation. Anyway, I don't post with an intent to scuttlebutt. So bygones be bygones, I'm done with it. Let's have the topic get back to music.

That's what you get when you call yourself "Yes." Now, Who's on first? :^)

;D Indeed. It really is an awful name, not least for online searches.

I didn't even know that was a country, although I suspect that's where Stephen Colbert lives. That or his summer home in the Colbert Nation.

I listened to Pink Floyd A LOT when I was a junior in high school, and I found that, after a while, I was incredibly depressed.  So I stopped listening to Pink Floyd, and I felt a lot better.  That said, for some reason, I still could listen to Animals, which I think is a terrific album, and I really do love the song "Wot's...Uh, The Deal?" from Obscured By Clouds.

I know this is an old thread and I haven't posted here in a while and my fly is probably down, but I'm really bored waiting for a render to finish, so here I am.

I'm glad to see lots of appreciation for albums other than The Wall and DSOTM. Personally I feel that Dark Side earns its reputation as one of the greatest albums of all time, but The Wall doesn't hold up for me as well. I used to think it was brilliant, but listening to it again as an increasingly grumpy adult, it seems awfully uneven and sometimes downright silly to me. As a kid I responded to the anger and desperation that oozes from every song. Now I just think Roger Waters sounds like an insufferable douche.

My favorite Floyd albums are Meddle, Dark Side, Wish You Were Here and Animals. The Final Cut is great, though it too suffers from an excess of Waters angst. As for post-Floyd material and performances, I really enjoyed David Gilmour's In Concert DVD from a few years back.

These are my opinions, not even worth the 672 bytes of MySQL space they now occupy.
