Okay, watching someone stream his playing of the Elder Scrolls Beta. Now, since there's an NDA, he can't show the gameplay or talk about it, so the stream is basically us watching him sitting in silence playing a game that we can't see.

Granted, this is from the same guy that once streamed himself cleaning his apartment, so it's not really out of character for him.

I personally liked the one where the streamer forgot to turn OFF his stream, and so everyone got to see his porn selection and dingly dangly ding dong.

The always-online thing never bugged me much, but if it bugged you, SimCity 5 Offline mode is coming!

http://www.simcity.com/en_US/blog/article/simcity-offline-is-coming?utm_campaign=simcity-social-na-socom-fb-offlinemodeiscoming-jan13-fb&utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&sourceid=simcity-social-na-socom-fb-offlinemodeiscoming-jan13-fb&cid=19405

Do you like the game Pak?

Not Pak, but I've played it too. It's okay, but it has issues.

The maps are too small for one. The game is set up for a "zone wide" thing, so one city might be tourism based, another manufacturing, another mining, etc. In practice, this means that your city is rarely self sufficient. You'll always be getting little issues. Not enough workers for your industry? Better set up a second city just for workers. You'll run out of money quickly  if you try to have hospitals and fire  trucks and cops and garbage trucks and education all in the same city. So you'll need to keep hopping from city to city if you're solo. And you want to play it solo because a) It's SimCity, for Pete's sake and b) The few times I'm opened up my city to others, I've gotten griefers every time. Yes, griefers in  SimCity game. Plus there are either various minor issues, but bad traffic pathing where your emergency vehicles will not take alternate paths to an emergency but always instead right into the middle of a traffic jam.

Look, it's a well polished game and I get the feeling that if was "Bob's City Builder" it'd be better reviewed, but it's a Sim City game. For the current city builder games, I like it a little better than Cities in Motion (I haven't had much time with the sequel)  but you may be better off either picking up SimCity 2000 from GoG (or Theme Park, which still rocks) or SimCity 4 from somewhere or even Sim City Societies from Origin, which wasn't too bad. But the current game? Eh. It's okay. But I'd be real hesitant about paying the current $60 price for it.

Hmmm.  Sounds like a good $10 purchase.  Maybe $15.  I'll wait for it to go down some more.  $40 is a bit much still.

Just an FYI - If you're an XBL Gold member, today is the last day for a free download of Sleeping Dogs, which is an awesome game.

I sunk over 100 hrs into Sim City, I haven't opened it in months because I'm sick of it but it is super addictive.

Looks pretty cool.  And that video did a good job of making me feel like I was on a real pirate ship, in that I'm now seasick from the view swinging back and forth so much.  Excited to try it without the horrible camera changes on my vertical monitor on my PC.
