Son of a.....

Watch Dogs delayed until 2014.

Citing quality concerns, Ubi is delaying Watch Dogs until Q1 in 2014.

I'm really annoyed by this, I pre-ordered Watch Dogs with my PS4.  A delay is better than them releasing a unfinished game though.  I guess I'll change my preorder to AC4, which I'm considerably less excited for.  I should probably finally get around to playing 3 now.

Yeah, I thought Watch_Dogs was looking really good too.  One reporter has suggested that Ubisoft has seen a lot of interest in AC4 for this holiday, and they would rather keep WD back for next quarter.

At the very least, it'll mean that the game gets as much time as possible to be great.

New Kickstarter from Cyan, the creators of Myst and Riven. It's a spiritual successor to those games called Obduction. Sounds awesome. They are asking for a lot, but I trust they know what they're doing. Hope it makes it.

Or, if you want your kickstarter dollars to go to something more classy and refined, here's Boogerman: 20th Anniversary Edition!

And there we go.  Star Citizen just passed 23 million, making it the first AAA game funded entirely by crowd funding.  If it's a success, or is even just completed without being awful, then I feel crowd funding will be with us for quite some time.  If it fails, it's going to shake a lot of people's confidence in crowd funding.

New trailer for a ship in Star Citizen.  Impressive considering this:
Quote
It’s rendered 100% in-engine in real time at 4k resolution. We scale everything for the super high resolutions that will be the basis of tomorrow’s gaming experience; our assets are designed with high polycounts instead of having details baked into their textures.

Looks awesome.  Do watch it full screen at 1080.  Or you can even watch it at 4k if you're rich.

Star Citizen looks really ambitions, I really hope it works out because I think I would really enjoy it. I play allot of flight sims and aviation combat games (in addition to flying real planes) I hope the combat is not based on lock on missiles, my preference is machine guns like IL2 and Pacific Fighters.

I bet this game will require a very powerful machine, like 2 Titans SLI powerful.

Mass Effect cut-scenes: The Game!

Seriously though, it looks really nice.  Not something I'd spend 10 thousand dollars on, though, like some crazy fools.

The combat is going to be much more involved than just locking missiles. Lots of weapon variation, lots of counter measures as well.  The flight mechanics are going to resemble WWII fighters more than a strict zero G realism.  The fluff reason for that being that the ship computers will compensate for the lack of resistance so that too many Gs aren't put on the pilot. But the real reason being it's more fun. Though you will be able to turn some of those computer systems off for some cool drifting maneuvers.  Also, full joystick / pedal support and trackIR:)

The game will also be a lot more than just combat, but that's what I'm looking forward to most. The dogfighting alpha is slated to be ready in December. I'll report back with how it feels once I start playing.

I just watched a video today that said I could play as a pirate, a marine, or a merchant. Definitely going to play as the merchant.

You won't be forced to pick one of three paths, you can do whatever you feel like.  I think those were just examples.  But a merchant is a good idea.  If you read some of the posts on the economy it gets really in depth.  Let me see if I can dig it up...

Ah, here it is.  https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/engineering/13128-The-Star-Citizen-Economy

And there's a little video that goes with it.

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/v/r0qXEAqYIH8" target="_blank" class="new_win">https://www.youtube.com/v/r0qXEAqYIH8</a>

I do hope that they make good on all these ideas.  It's going to be an awesome game if they do.  Or it could end up like Mech Warrior Online... but I really don't think so.  CIG is being very open with the community, unlike PGI.

I haven't really heard of this game outside of the forum.  It sounds like how I've heard Privateer described, and if that's right I'm in.

It has the potential to be something great.  A big boost for PC gaming, a big fuck you to publishers, and a big... awesome game.  But if it fails, it could mean the downfall of crowd funding.  There's a bit of weight on its shoulders.

It really depends mostly on the developers fulfilling their promises, they're making a lot of promises that I hope will come to fruition.

Agreed. Which is exactly what didn't happen with Mech Warrior Online. They back tracked on / failed to implement so many promises, yet still keep churning out mechs for people to spend money on.  So I'm a little nervous (especially considering the amount I've already spent on Star Citizen so far), but I do trust them a lot more than PGI.
