However, in news that I thought I posted last night, but apparently didn't, on March 18th EA is giving everyone who has registered a copy of SimCity a free game as a bit of an apology for the downtime. I suspect that EA will probably give the affected parties something that they might actually want to play, rather than starting off a whole new round of people bitching "I wasn't able to play Sim City when it launched, and you gave me a copy of The Saboteur to make up for it?"
And here's the list of games they're offering:
- Battlefield 3 (Standard Edition)
- Bejeweled 3
- Dead Space 3 (Standard Edition)
- Mass Effect 3 (Standard Edition)
- MOHW (Standard Edition)
- NFS Most Wanted (Standard Edition)
- Plants vs. Zombies
- SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition
So, an older Simcity game for those who just want to wash their hands of the whole affair and 3-4 games that are still selling at retail price. (And 2 popcap games. If you choose to pick up those, well, it's your own fault there.)
For the handful that aren't raging about the DRM, Bestbuy is selling Simcity at $20 off next week. ($39.99) That's not a bad price for Dead Space 3 (and a copy of SimCity.) You'll need to activate and buy it on Sunday, but hey, it still counts.
