If you weren't actually ready to go to printing you shouldn't have gone gold. When you delay your game so you can finish a day 0 patch, you "finalized" too soon.

I've seen multiple people complain that they'd already gotten off work Nov 19th because CDPR promised this release date was set in stone

Considering how much the game is getting delayed, it's either going to be The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time or Duke Nukem Forever. Given CD Projekt Red's Track Record, I'm cautiously optimistic that it's going to be the former, yet I fear the latter.

Considering how much the game is getting delayed, it's either going to be The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time or Duke Nukem Forever. Given CD Projekt Red's Track Record, I'm cautiously optimistic that it's going to be the former, yet I fear the latter.

Ocarina is pretty overrated imo. I think a lot of people have serious nostalgia goggles for that game and ignore its flaws, 3D platforming always feels bad, the camera controls are awkward, 90% of the game is spent holding the shield button until an enemy reveals a weak spot for you to attack. Some of the bosses and temples are coolly themed, and the story is alright, but the gameplay is lacking.

I know Bravely Default has kind of a style, but I think it's kinda weird that they seem to be making the game with 3DS style graphics when Square-Enix usually likes to milk a system's graphics for everything it's worth. Still looking forward to it!

This is a conference call held by the CEO, CFO and head of publishing of CD PROJEKT RED with its share holders, attempting to explain the decision to delay to Dec 10.

It appears the issue is with current gen consoles. The game runs fine on PC and next gen, but current gen not so much. What's surprising is that this wasn't the devs' idea, it was the executives'. The devs fully expected it to release Nov 19. The executives are not confident that a day 0 patch will be done by then to address the console issues.

Personally I feel that these issues should have been addressed before going gold. If the problems are serious enough to go back on their promise after all the money they've spent on marketing, I doubt another 3 weeks will be able to fix it. I have my doubts that they'll be able to get the game to run satisfactorily on console at all.

Meh. I’m looking forward to Cyberpunk, but I don’t really care that it’s delayed. What makes it shitty is that they put their employees into crunch and told them there was a hard deadline, then notified the devs at the same time as the public that it would be delayed. Supposedly there’s some money related legal reason why they couldn’t tell the devs before, but it’s still shitty.

This is why the gaming industry needs to unionize. Even when your employer talks the talk and promises to never abuse their employees (and make them go into mandatory crunch), look what happens. Corporations are always going to fuck their employees unless their employees can stand up for themselves by standing together.
