New Double Fine Kickstarter: Massive Chalice.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/doublefine/double-fines-massive-chalice

It will be a game similar to xcom, in that the combat is turn based and there is perma death, but it will take place over a much longer time frame.  You will train soldiers, watch them grow over the years and get better, become heroes, have children, and pass on their legacy and skills to those children, who will have children of their own, and so on.  Oh, and it's set in a fantasy setting.

Sounds right up my alley.  I love turn based strategy.  And being from Double Fine is another bonus.  They aren't having the crazy immediate success that the first Double Fine Adventure had, but I think that's because it has lost a bit of novelty, so you don't get people spending money just because they got caught up in the moment.  And you also lose the people who gave money because they thought the Double Fine Adventure would lead directly to another Psychonauts.  But it's already close to meeting its goal, and by not immediately posting stretch goals I think they were prepared for this project to go a little slower.  Even with the slower start, I think I'm more excited for this one than I am for Broken Age.

Yeah, I'm donating so hard towards Massive Chalice....if only so my boyfriend can play it. He's so damn excited, it looks from as well from my POV (someone who loves Civ 5 type games).
No Matter Where you go, there you are.

This is pretty much my favorite table for the game now. I like the simple but difficult to execute rules, which keeps me playing and trying to get just a little higher score. My high score is 3,573,150 at the moment. I also like the art. Great table.

Two bits of news:

The previously mentioned Duck Tales Ooo-oo game is also coming to PC.

And Saint's Row IV announces the Wub-wub edition.

Comes with the game and a 12-inch Dub Step gun replica, featuring laser sight and the most dangerous wubs the world has even known when you pull the trigger.

Also included in the package is a 8-inch Johnny Gat Memorial Statue, Dubstep Doomsday Button and in-game items like the Screaming Eagle VTOL, Uncle Sam uniform and 'Merica gun.

Yes, this is a bit restrained compared to Saint's Row III.

So....

http://www.happyplaytime.com/

It's a game designed to teach.... hmmm, how do I say this in a PG rated manner? It teaches folks with XX chromosomes how to pleasure themselves.

Yeah, I can't see any possible controversy arising from this.

Oh hey, Interplay just purchased the rights to the Freespace IP... for $7,500. No, not missing any zeroes there. And yes, Interplay still exists and published the first two Freespace games (and Baldur's Gate.) We'll see what they do with it since Interplay is rather lacking in activity right now.

Someone put the SCUMM emulator into HTML!

http://clb.demon.fi/html5scummvm/

Right now, it only plays demos, for legal reasons, but it's still a neat way to kill some time. :^)

Not really news but I'll stick it here anyway:

They missed Mallrats though. And Hellworld.

Oh, DotA 2 will go live this August 7th.

So, if you're one of the 3 or 4 people in North America who don't have a beta key yet, there you go.

Sony Says They've Won a Battle, Not the War

It's good to see that Sony learned its lesson with the PS3 launch and are actually listening to what gamers really want, not what some fratboy-filled focus group says. They also seem to be following Han Solo's advice and aren't getting cocky from one victory.

Speaking of Sony...

The final PS2 was announced today. Yes, they're still making them. Or at least they were. In September, EA will release the final new full PS2 game. It'll be FIFA 14. Japan will get one more release in March, but it's an expansion for FF XI, not a full game.
