Could someone provide the Amazon (or alternate purchase source) URL for the version of the movie used for this riff? This information is not on the catalog page. Just provide a single title URL please. No collections. My DVD for this film doesn't sync. FYI the text file for the download contains some minor formatting problems in the sync lines section.

PS: I don't need troubleshooting, etc. Just the URL to the proper version.

Thanks.

There aren't any differing versions, unless you're using the 2003 remake.

The one I used has a runtime of 112 minutes.  I got this version off Netflix.

This one has the same runtime and should work.

I used the second one that Thrifty linked to without a problem.

Also, what formatting problems does the readme have? It looks like every other readme.

There's a 107 minute SE version of this film as well.

Here's one of the links for it: http://dvd.bigpondmovies.com/dvd/17137/Planet-Of-The-Apes-Original  -  This is the version that I have.

Perhaps some clarification is in order on the catalog page.

I could be wrong (it certainly wouldn't be the first time), but this appears to be a DVD from a different region. My UK DVD of POTA runs at 107 minutes, too - it is, however, exactly the same movie, but different regions run at different speeds, which is why I have to use a Region 1 disc when recording. I think the DVD you've posted a link to might be Australian (which is either Region 3 or 4, I think).

That could be the problem.  It looks like only an NTSC version of the riff was released.  Usually, there are both PAL and NTSC versions released at the same time.  The NTSC version is 112 minutes, but you guys are probably using PAL DVDs.

So.... ironically... Matthew's own riff won't work on his DVD.  I think Mister Seven has the same problem.

After investigating further, I believe this is exactly the issue. My player is region free and the disc isn't clear on source, but there aren't too many alternatives. FYI I made it halfway thru the riff (before the manual resyncing drove me up the wall) and it's quite good! Looking forward to more classics like this and Die Hard from you Matthew. Great stuff, you're a natural.

As an aside, I had forgotten just how entertaining this movie is. A well deserved classic.

You could also make your own PAL version of the RiffTrax. It has been reported a few times that using the free program AUDACITY if you change the tempo by 4.271% things will line up (as long as it is the same cut of the film).
