Wow, i thought that was pretty obscure. Well done!

I've added a few more pieces to the puzzle. And here's the next awkwardly phrased question...

Question #5: A popular heavy metal band can be seen holding auditions for what position in a critically acclaimed documentary from 2004?

You're on the right track, but that's not the answer i was looking for. Although, i'm afraid that my poorly crafted question is probably responsible for that. Take another look at the question.

Nope, completely my fault.  The answer is Bass Player.

That's the ticket! More of the puzzle has been revealed, and here's another question...

Pink Floyd The Wall
Pink Floyd The Wall is a 1982 film based on the 1979 album of the same name. With a screenplay written by Roger Waters, the film depicts the life of a fictional rock star who constructs, and ultimately demolishes, a metophorical wall between himself and the rest of the world. Relationships, drug abuse, sex, childhood, WWII and fascism combine in a disturbing mix of episodic live action and lyrical animation. Rich in both symbolic imagery and sound, The Wall features very little dialogue and is mainly driven by the music of Pink Floyd.

Again - Bonus points to anyone who can explain how each of the previous answers relate to Pink Floyd The Wall.

Well played... you had a little one-two punch there, to end the game!

I'm surprised it took that long actually. That's one of my favorite movies. In fact, i almost changed the image because i thought it would be too recognizable. Go figure~  :D

I've never seen the movie - just stills.  The clues kind of did it for me.

Let's see....

Starred Bob Geldof - he organized Band Aid for African famine

Same director as Supergirl?

Giorgio Moroder worked on both the music for this and Midnight Express?

Pink - duh!

Floyd's bass player wrote it/co-wrote it/was the inspiration for it?.

And it was the first movie ever shown on MTV?

You're totally right about Bob Geldof and Roger Waters (the bass player.) Pink seems pretty obvious, but it was actually the main character's name from the film. And i have to admit that i have no idea what MTV's first movie was... so who, knows? You might be right. But that wasn't really what i was going for there.

Otherwise, the Midnight Express and Supergirl things... not so much.  ;)

Some were educated guesses (and misses).

Jeez...try to look up what was the first movie on MTV and all you get are links to crap about that they showed the first trailer of Twilight: New Moon at the Video Awards.....

Well, I remember it as being The Wall followed by Phantom of the Paradise later on.  Probably something in between I'm not remembering because I didn't care.   ;)

Besides constantly showing songs from the film as music videos, MTV actually aired a great documentary entitled The Other Side of the Wall which is featured on the DVD version as well.

Alan Parker directed both this and Midnight Express. And the Supergirl thing... well, that's kind of insider baseball. Apparently Bob Geldof couldn't swim, and they needed to film a scene in a pool. They eventually dug out the clear plastic harness that Christopher Reeves used while filming Superman, but it was too big for Geldof... and so they ended up using the rig from Supergirl instead.

Talk about an obscure hint, huh?
