So i guess the Jets are in the playoffs and the Texans are out..
Uh, yes, that's right. And has anyone else ever seen a team get ushered into the playoffs like the Jets just were? The Colts lie down and roll over in the second half last week, saving their stars for the playoffs. Then the Bengals -- I didn't see much of this game, but by the score I have to assume they were going through the motions, content with not trying to raise their seed one place. Without those two wins, the Jets are on the outside looking in. There was already concern about teams heading into the playoffs not giving their all and producing substandard games. This can only redouble those worries: the Jets won a playoff berth by, basically, a quirk of the schedule.
Of course, it ends up being a trap for Gang Green. From what I've heard (not fully confirmed), they'll be playing the Bengals again next weekend in the wild card round. Cincinnati basically sat back, showing them nothing while knowing the Jets had to go all-out, throw the playbook at the Bengals, to insure that they got to play another week. Cincinnati now has a massive tactical advantage, having seen most of what the Jets can do while having held much of their own playbook back.
Something is not quite right in the NFL.
Okay, several things are not quite right in the NFL. This is one of them.
