Oh.

I thought this was about space dogs.

SAAB was a cool show though, except for some minor flaws.

R. Lee Ermey.  One of only two people Stanley Kubrick would allow to go off-script in his movies (Peter Sellers was the other), mainly because his profane tirades were just so creative.  Kubrick had to ask at least once what some of them meant.

And yeah, Space: Above and Beyond went before its time.  As most SF programs on Fox do.  It's a wonder The X-Files lasted nine years there ...

Yes, that was a good dogfight.  IIRC, the alien ship had "Abandon All Hope" (or something like that) written on the side too.

I do remember watching the show at the time, but it did not hook me in despite the fact that I wanted to like it.  I had trouble connecting with the characters, but I was younger back then too so that may not have been an issue today.  They also had the habit of taking their plots from real life - the pilot was more or less the Pacific Theater of WWII from Pearl Harbor to Midway - which annoyed me a bit.

But I do remember the scene where one of the pilots get tortured, starts naming his all time Chicago Cubs team to try to stay sane, and then his torturer uses it against him.  Very cool scene.
