So Who Is a Dance Dance Revolutionary?
« on: January 05, 2007, 10:22:04 AM »
In response to the Guitar Heroes thread, I was wondering how many DDR players we have. What's your favorite DDR song to dance to? Has anyone known the joys of a AAA? Can anyone ace MAX300? Discuss!

DDR has introduced me to a lot of nifty music. If I were cool, I'd probably be a raver. :^)

I've never got an AAA on any song, but I was one Perfect away once. Got a Great instead. Durnit. One day...
I can SURVIVE Max300. I get a D every time, but I don't die. :^)

My fav DDR songs include Exotic Ethnic, Dream a Dream (And anything else by Captain Jack) and Conflict.

I'm not pathetic enough to have a metal dance pad YET, but I do have a $100 foam-insert pad. :^)

....for those incredibly-heavy-flow days.

I like DDR, but seem to have trouble finding a time when I can play it at the moment.  When I'm home, I'm usually either carrying my son around, or trying desperately to avoid making the slightest noise that might wake him up.  The "step vibrations" of DDR, as Konami puts it, do not jibe well with the latter goal.

I could theoretically play during the times that he's asleep upstairs, but then I have to contend with my three-year old daughter, who likes to helpfully jump up and down on the X button while I'm trying to play.

I'm sure I'll eventually get to play again.  Of course, by then, dancing will put me at risk for shattering a hip.

I support a Dance Dance Revolution, but only if it is bloodless and democratic.  Sadly, this rarely happens, and it rarely changes the nation's dance skills very much at all - the country's new leaders end up being just as bad at dancing as the ones they helped to overthrow.  I happen to have a great deal of personal experience in the matter.  I once tried to start a Dance Dance Revolution in Turkmenistan and it did not end well.  Thousands of displaced citizens were killed when the government handed out blankets infected with disco fever.

Correction: the coat hanger should be upside down.

I like DDR.  I haven't played in a while. I need a bigger living room (or a game room).  I had the mat folded up (I know, bad idea) over Christmas and now it doesn't work anymore.  I've had this happen 3 times now and sometimes I can dissect the mat and fix but it looks like I'll be buying yet another DDR mat.

Considering my best dance move involves me looking like I'm on fire while having a mild seizure, I gave DDR a miss.   :)

I enjoy pointing and laughing at the DDR kids in the arcade at the mall.

thats cause those kids seem to have no sense of porportion or decency.  I have played a few times in the mall but its like the same way i go to starbucks, yeah its fun but i dont try and spend a lot of time there.  I usually play it in the decency in my own home. away from prying eyes.  amandagal i dont know why your map isnt working.  Mine has been folded literally for years and it still works everytime i get it out?

When I was in Japan for 6 months or so, I had achieved really good DDR skills. I was playing random songs on Heavy and clearing them without a problem.

Three years later...not so much. I'm outta shape, I sweat like a hog when I play two songs, and I don't have the same body timing or positioning needed to be really good. Maybe one day I'll try to regain my DDR abilities...but with Guitar Hero, probably not going to happen for a while.

You could buy Dance Factory and insert a DDR soundtrack.  ;)
