"Wall Street 2" starring Shia LeBeouf
« on: April 28, 2009, 09:13:26 PM »
http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2009/04/wall-street.html

"The much-discussed Wall Street sequel is getting closer to launch, EW has learned. Michael Douglas will return as corporate raider Gordon Gekko, the role for which he won the 1987 Best Actor Oscar, and Oliver Stone will be back as the director of the followup to the movie that put the phrase "Greed is good" into the popular lexicon. Shia LaBeouf is in talks to play a young trader in Wall Street 2, which is set 20 years after the first installment."

As the tag on the fark.com thread says, FAIL

Are he and Shia LaBeouf lovers or something, that is the only way to explain LaBeouf getting so much work.

Honestly, there are only two things I've seen him in. Transformers and Indy IV. The biggest problem in those movies wasn't Shia himself but that his characters didn't belong in the movies and they weren't what I came to see. So I'm willing to give him some slack on this.

Maybe - since they know how much people hate Wall Street these days - LeBeouf's character dies in some horrible, painful manner?   :highfive:

You know, I think even Shia wants to see one of his characters die at this point.

I can't bring myself to hate Shia. Point of reference, though, I AM able to bring myself to enjoy Transformers and Crystal Skull. I enjoyed him as the comic relief in Constantine, and that's all I've seen of his work. I just can't see where the contempt comes from. His performances can be over the top, but he's usually placed in roles in which the situation justifies that type of response. He's not the greatest actor ever, or anything, but I can put him on the same shelf as Keanu Reeves or Will Smith. Great person to choose for your silly summer blockbuster sci-fi/action flick.

Now for this movie (Never seen the original, but IMDB calls it a crime drama) I dunno if there's a place for him...

I think the movies he has been in have been show what is wrong with hollywood blockbusters, but he seems okay if he can just get a good script.

True. He was pretty good in Holes. They just seem to give him insecure, bumbling idiot roles lately.

Actually I think that he and Keanu proove that you can put ANYBODY in a big blockbuster. Why? Becasue people come to see a big blockbuster, not somebody like Keanu or Shia.

Agreed!
I notice nobody here has mentioned Eagle Eye. Was he good in that?

Surprisingly decent. For the most part he left the akward dork shtick at the door, but unfortunately it was 'meh' movie.

I think Shia is a pretty good actor who gets cast in unlikeable roles and/or mediocre movies.
