A bunch of my buddies in the corp, and a few aquaintances in the guard, are stationed there at different intervals. From what I gather, it's usually a place where you get stationed right before and right after operations in iraq. Sort of like a warm up and warm down sort of place. 'Course, I've never been there. I was about to join the army but decided not to.

lol, well im in the air force so itll be a bit different.  For one thing the reason they were there as big prep up was probably prior to us going into iraq in the first place.  Second yeah its usually a jumping point as in planes take you there then you fly from there to whereever your going in the theater.  i will be there for a while.  im hoping to let you guys know if we troops can get rifftrax over there.  if we can you can be assured ill show it to anyone who stop moving for long enough for me to tell em about it.

My brother was there during his tour of duty a few years back. He said it was very, very, VERY HOT. And you can't take pictures of anything with your camera unless you're on American or British sanctioned ground or property because of some of their cultural beliefs.

And avoid the soda there at all costs. My brother said their version of Coke is the most aweful thing he's ever tasted.

Well, as a photographer myself, I probably would. I got 4 rolls out of White Sands, NM.

My brother stowed his camera, however, right up until he got on the bus that would take him back to his ship. Once on the (American) bus, he took his camera out, hung halfway out of the bus as it sped away, and began taking tons of pictures.

Apart from extremely expensive hotels where very rich men do business, are there any other sort of "attractions" in Kuwait? It doesn't scream "TOURIST DESTINATION!!!" to me.   :)

i assure you its not a vacation planned here.  although in the military we do call it vacation.  thats because the alternatives could be a lot harsher.

Sarcasm I would love it if you do have internet access over there if you could continue to post on the boards and maybe do a blog topic type thing where you could post pictures, and talk about your expierence, etc. and maybe the mods here (Torgo's?) could sticky the topic? Is that something you would wanna do?

i got no problem doing that.  I KNOW i will have internet access for a fact. after all i did have it while i was in iraq so i dont see why i wont have it in kuwait.  further that i work with computers as part of my job so i should be able to give you a blog on here if you like.  However i remind you this is kuwait not iraq not afghanatan my day to day is going to be really boring.  Thats the honest truth.  When i said i wonder if i will have rifftrax over there i really i wonder if the firewall will allow me to download this.  Thats all.  'Ill post what pictures i think prudent.  Wouldnt wish to give too much away about how the base is built for ssecurity reasons.

Trust me i figure the next four months youll see me enough on these boards to know whats going on.
