I imagine this is a lot more 'in the spirit' than it would be if Mike was involved, only one reference to the idiotic 'torture porn' hyperbole and otherwise running with the movie.  The music building as Jigsaw stands still gives me chills.

As much as I hate the term "torture porn" (because it is coined by people who have NO IDEA what they are talking about), I do agree. It is definitely in the modern era of realistic gore for the sake of grossing out the audience, at the expense of plot.

ROAD muthafuckin HOUSE!

Last night I re-watched the one that started it all... and still eight years later... one of the very best I've ever had the pleasure of watching. It's a Mike solo effort, so if your into the guys going off on their little conversational tangents, this might not rank as highly for you... But even flying solo, Mike delivers quantity and quality, almost all of his riffs hit the mark... This is truly a stripped down essence of the form. Just one guy and one movie, either the riffs are there or they aren't. He gets a lot of help from the source movie. Perhaps the greatest riff fodder source movie ever made. The perfect storm of earnest, goofball entertainment... Swayze hamming up shirtless karate practice, Gazzarra skipping right past chewing and basically inhaling the scenery... They don't make em like this anymore, the perfect B-movie... Highly recommended.

If I get the time tonight, I'm continuing down the Mike solo wayback machine with Point Break... another one that I fondly remember but haven't watched in years.

I'm not as fond of the Mike solo tracks, but I do remember that one being particularly funny.

Finally got around to R.O.T.O.R. WOW. That movie is the gift that keeps on giving. So often, with these cheesy '80s sci-fi trainwrecks, there are one or two wonderfully goofy scenes, and then the rest of the movie is just bland and painful. R.O.T.O.R. does not stop with the goofy. I needed to catch my breath! EVERY. SCENE. has a lapse in logic, a goofy special effect, a mugging comedy relief character, or a wonderfully inexplicable line of dialogue. It just didn't let up!

I didn't like "Ghosthouse" when I first saw it. It was a bad movie and I thought Mike, Bill, and Kevin missed all the good beats, at first... then I watched it again... and again... and now it is one of my favourites.

I can only assume they have hypnotized me in some way. And, this leads me to the logical conclusion that they are Reptiloids from another dimension or Zeta Reticulli depending on which documentary on the History Channel2 that you believe.

Clearly, there is no other conclusion one can draw. These men are reptilian aliens.

Just checked out The Bride and the Beast. That one's a weird one...
