Radio Plays and other recorded audio dramas
Tripe H. Redux:
I know Rude has put a few radio recordings up before and I think they can be great so I thought it might be good to give them their own thread.
I'm in two minds about where this should go but it's still sort of more literary than musical so I put it here.
Post any radio dramas or simply dramatic recordings made purely for release, that you recommend (especially if you've recently been listening to them).
So yesterday I listened to this:
Which was very enjoyable, I'll have to track down The Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul next.
I'd have never thought of Harry Enfield as Dirk but I think he's great in the part.
I returned it to the library and picked up these:
The Iron Hand of Mars
Shadows in Bronze
Doctor Who: Death Comes In Time
So we'll see how those are :)
Johnny Unusual:
I'm listening to the entir Hitchhiker's Guide series I got from my Dad. It's quite jarring to go from Series 2 to Series 3. I was exctied because I had listened up to series 2 before and thought that's where it ended: with a great cliffhanger that. to my recollection, wasn't covered in the book series. Unfortunately, I found out the next three series aren't continuations of that story, but just an adaptation of the last three books. Not bad, but I want to see Arthur Dent go on a wacky crusade of vengeance against the most selfish (yet charismatic) man in the universe.
Tripe H. Redux:
Yeah I loved Jane Horrocks as Fenchurch, she's pretty near perfect in the role.
ManUnderMask:
I love radio dramas. I have the Star Wars ones, and the audio drama adaptations of the comics.
There's quite a few fan radio dramas, Pendant Audio has a bunch of original ones, a Star Wars, Star Trek, and six ongoing DC Universe radio dramas.
Feedback, the winner of season 1 (?) Who Wants To Be A Superhero has his own audio drama from Broken Sea. It's not too bad. He plays himself.
They're worth checking out.
Tripe H. Redux:
Excellent, bookmarked Pendant. :)
EDIT: So Death Comes To Time was nicely done if a bit of a downer at the end, I think I need to find a few more in that particualr series to mke sense of some of the parts, assuming there are others that will do that. :-\
On the subject of Dr Who though, which ones from Big Finish are especially good?
