I dunno.... Full House is just so intensely mediocre and formulaic. I have a hard time working up a good head of steam toward hating it.

A good amount of the stuff that shows up on Adult Swim is pretty wretched.  For every piece of gold like Venture Brothers it seems there's a hunk of crap like Squidbillies in there too.

Yeah, but MOST of the Adult Swim shows are doing it on purpose for the freaks like me that can't get enough absurdist dadaism in their day. :^)

I obviously wasn't the target demographic, but the cartoon for The Littlest Pet Shop was especially obnoxious.

Amen to that brother.  A lot of what they put out there is just so terrible I stopped watching Adult Swim a while ago.  I remember one sleepless night, hoping for entertainment, and instead getting a stream of crap like Perfect Hair Forever, 12 Ounce Mouse, Tom Goes to the MayorThe Brak Show, and Squidbillies.

I think what makes it so awful is that the drawing is downright apalling.  I can't draw for a damn.  I have a few halfway decent pencil and crayon drawings that I drew once when I was bored (and if I could remember their names and where on the web I put them, I'd show you).  What I take from this knowledge is a simple idea; I should not be trying to develop a cartoon.  There are a ton of shows on television with terrible writing, but at least they aren't as visually apalling as most Adult Swim content.

I think Cartoon Network actually greenlights a lot of stuff for Cartoon Swim and has very loose quality controls.  On a commentary track for an episode of Home Movies, Brendan Small was talking about how when the show was in progress, he lived in an apartment complex with about a dozen other tenants ALSO developing shows for Adult Swim.  Brendan also expressed that he made a pretty modest living at it too.  I'm pretty sure Adult Swim employs a "throw everything at the wall and hope it sticks" business model.

Since we're talking about bad animation, Tripping the Rift should rank up there.  What the Hell Stephen Root.  Also, Chuck Austen sucks in any medium.

Don't blame Stephen.  The man is like Kurtwood Smith; he's in 80% of all television and movies.  The law of averages dictates he'll hit a few turkeys.

I puked in my mouth when I read your stoicism in the face of "Full House".

Well, I'm with you here beenie... I can understand not liking a show because of it's banality or it's intentional cheese aimed at tweens... but to consider it one of the "worst in history"? I mean stuff like Full House and Saved by the Bell are so benign, unabashedly announcing to the world that they mean no ill will towards anything... It's bizarre that they generate rage in certain folks. I'd rather watch a back-to-back helping of Saved by the Bell / Full House over any given episode of the horseshit that is CSI:Miami.

I remember when I was a kid and one of the stations stoped playing Star Trek TNG at 4 o'clock in the afternoon and put Full House and Step by step in it's place,I learned to hate both of those awful shows.

I am still upset that Full house is out on DvD while Reboot is nowhere to be seen.

If you're comparing it to the original short?  Absolutely.

If you take into account that the minute something goes onto any kind of network, it's immediately dumbed down, de-balled and pussified or it never sees the light of day...it wasn't too bad.

Which is why the US versions of Fawlty Towers and the pilot for Red Dwarf never had a chance....not that the latter put any real effort out from the looks of it.

I mean, I understand the feeling. It's kind of like me and the Dave Matthews Band; my apathy toward everything they've ever done is so intense, it could be mistaken for hatred.

For once I actually agree with BTA and willing to grudgingly admit he is right.  Full House is far more harmful than something like Law and Order - whatever that jury one was or CSI: Insert hip-city-where-people-wear-few-clothes.  Sure those are ridiculous but you know it immediately.  Step By Step, Small Wonder (groan), and yes, "Full House" are terrible for their low stealth profile and appearing to be "harmeless".

Wait.  I think I have someone here who can explain it better than I can....

Joel is explaining to the bots that evil works best in small ways.

Crow: Example.
Joel: Okay, what do you think about Hitler?
Crow: Well, I hate him naturally.
Joel: Okay, what do you think of the band Styx.
Crow: Well, I don't know, they had one or two good... Oh, my God! You're right!
Joel: Uh-huh, see?
